Hi everyone,
We're currently using Skype for Business 2015 with Persistent Chat. Everything was working fine when we were on Office 2016. However, after upgrading to Office 2024 LTSC, we started experiencing significant lag in Persistent Chat.
The issue appears when loading older chat history. If the chat is empty or contains only a few messages (e.g., 10 or fewer), everything works fine. But when it starts loading a larger chunk of history (e.g., 30+ messages), the entire Skype client freezes for about 10 seconds.
We’ve already tried upgrading the server to Skype for Business 2019, but that didn’t resolve the issue. There are no errors in the client logs, and based on our testing, it doesn't seem to be a network or firewall issue, since everything worked fine with Office 2016/2019.
It feels like Office 2024 LTSC may have introduced changes to how chat history is buffered or loaded—maybe it uses a different algorithm or method for handling Persistent Chat data.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, or does anyone have any suggestions? We'd really appreciate any help or insights.

P.S All Cu and updates installed, clear cache and etc. done and not working.

Since you upgraded the server to Skype for Business 2019, test with the Skype for Business 2019 client to see if the issue persists with Office 2024 LTSC. This can help determine if the issue is specific to the combination of Office 2024 and Skype for Business 2015.
- Persistent Chat History Caching:
Even though you’ve cleared the cache, ensure that chat history storage is optimized for Office 2024 LTSC. Check if any settings related to chat history buffering or storage need adjustment.
- Review Server Performance:
Check the server hosting Persistent Chat for any performance issues, especially with the SQL Server database and chat history retrieval. Server-side performance might be contributing to the lag.

We tried all possible and impossible solutions, but nothing helped. The issue is only with Office 2024.
With Office 2016/2019/2021, everything works fine.
We opened a ticket with Microsoft, so we are waiting...

2025-05-06T04:01:33.64+00:00 We are still in communication with Microsoft, but so far we have not received a final response. However, it seems their position will be that the Office 2024 client persistent chat is not officially supported.
