71525_Hindi Phonetic Keyboard_Win10_word choices drop-down no more_only the 1st letter

OS: Win 10 Pro 22H2 19045.6093 Apps where I have seen the issue: -

WhatsApp Windows App ver 2.2527.2.0

Google Chrome Version 138.0.7204.101 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Microsoft Edge Version 138.0.3351.83 (Official build) (64-bit)

Windows Notepad

Firefox Browser 140.0.4 (64-bit)

Opera One(version: 120.0.5543.61)

Microsoft Office 365 Suite

This problem started about a week ago.

  1. What's the issue?

Hindi Phonetic Keyboard no longer gives word choices drop-down & the typed word appears as is in English (screenshot 1)Image

When typing using the Hindi Phonetic Keyboard, only the first letter of the word appears (screenshot 2)Image

  1. What have I tried?

Check for Windows Updates (up-to-date)

Check for App Updates (all up-do-date)

sfc /scannow

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

Uninstalled the language pack, reboot PC, installed the language pack, reboot PC

  1. What has changed?

Windows Settings (None to my knowledge)

Apps Install/Uninstall (None)

  1. The alternative I am currently using:

Hindi Indic Input 3 keyboard

Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool Hindi keyboard (this keyboard works better than the 1st one)

  1. What am I trying to avoid?

Refresh the cop of Win 10

Clean install of Win 10

Note: I do not have access to another Win 10 System at this time. Otherwise, I would have checked.

Unsure if the issue lies within my OS Environment or if other users are facing similar problems.OS: Win 10 Pro 22H2 19045.6093

    Issue Summary 

    • Symptoms: Hindi Phonetic Keyboard no longer suggests full words, only partial or incorrect characters. 
    • Affected Apps: WhatsApp, Chrome, Edge, Notepad, Firefox, Opera, Office 365 — essentially all text input apps. 
    • Cause: A bug in the July 2025 cumulative update (KB5062553) affecting input method editors (IMEs) for Hindi and other Indic languages  

     

    Fix Options 

    Option 1: Uninstall KB5062553 

    This has resolved the issue for many users: 

    1. Go to Settings > System > Recovery > Advanced Startup 
    2. Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Uninstall Updates 
    3. Select Uninstall latest quality update 
    4. Reboot your PC 

    This will remove KB5062553 and restore proper keyboard behavior  

     

    Option 2: Use Alternative Input Tools 

    Until Microsoft releases a fix: 

     

    Option 3: Report via Feedback Hub 

    To help Microsoft prioritize a fix: 

    • Press Win + F to open Feedback Hub 
    • Search for “Hindi Phonetic Keyboard” 
    • Upvote existing reports or create a new one describing your issue
