How to tell if someone is active in Teams

When using Skype I can see that a contact is Available, Away, Off Work, etc. When I'm in Teams and look at Contacts it only shows my Skype contacts and their status. How can I tell if a contact is currently available in Teams? I don't have an option here to select Teams as a category.

    Hi PaulFen,

As mentioned in the article below, all your contacts and groups that you created in Skype for Business will show up in Teams under your contact list. To access your contacts, simply click on “Chat” in the left navigation and then on “Contacts”. Here, you can also add new contacts or create new contact groups.

That means people in the contacts list are your Teams contacts and the list also contains Skype for business contacts.

To view the presence of your Teams contacts, you just need to switch to the Chat section in Teams > Contacts > hover over your people card then you can check the detailed information of your contacts

To view the presence of team members, go to Teams section > click More Options(...) button next to the team > Manage Team > Members

    Best Regards,

    Huni

Thanks for the reply but I still can't see if someone is active in Teams. I tested with a person in my Skype contact list which shows up in Chat/Contacts in Teams. He shows active in Skype so I asked him to sign out of Teams. Once he did that his status in Teams remained the green check mark. How do I know he is not active in Teams?

If he is signed out of both Skype and Teams I can see the correct status in Teams. If however he signs into Skype but not Teams his status in Teams will be active. That's the problem, if I send him a chat in Teams he won't get it and I won't know that he didn't get it.

    Hi PaulFen,

As you mentioned in the article, Presence states for users (i.e. available, busy or in a call) will now be aggregated between Teams and Skype for Business. This ensures that a user has a single presence state regardless of the app and the device they use.

In this situation, I suggest you try to ask the contact to set his Skype for business and teams to offline and check if the presence still remain the green check mark.

    Best Regards,

    Huni
