Issues Viewing Shared PowerPoint Presentations on Mobile App Teams

I have been exploring Teams for work and have run into an issue with viewing shared PPTs on mobile devices using the Teams app.  The device, a laptop, is sharing the PPT, but mobile devices that I have tested, including an Android tablet, Android phone, and iPhone are unable to view the PPT when connected to the meeting via the Teams app.  The android devices do not have this issue if they connect through the chrome web browser, it seems to be an issue with the Teams app specifically.

Are there any solutions to this issue?

    Hi,

So far I have not had any issues with the desktop Teams client.  The issue only seems to appear while using the Teams client on PC and attempting to view a shared powerpoint on the mobile Teams Client.  On apple products there is an error message stating that the powerpoint cannot be downloaded, while android devices show a blank screen.  Im attaching pictures of the screens below:

This is the Android screen, it reads that there is a presentation but it is blank.

iPhone screen showing error downloading document.

I did not run into these issues showing the presentation via the shared desktop, however we want to still have the main presenter's camera active while the presentation is up to facilitate meetings.  On a semi-related note, is it possible to share PDF documents in the same way as powerpoints, or would that have to be done via the shared desktop? Thank you again for your response.

I am also having this exact same problem, any solution would be great @microsoft

I have tried many options even downloading the powerpoint to my phone.  The powerpoint still runs great on the desktop app, but it shows nothing on mobile.

This is my EXACT problem too Rob. And the same reason that I want to use a PowerPoint file hosted on OneDrive. It works SO MUCH better on low bandwidth/high latency connections. We tried it with rural participants using satellite internet and sharing through the PowerPoint tab (OneDrive) method works almost instantly. When sharing from desktop the presentation is minutes behind on the satellite connection.

Love to hear any solutions on this from anyone...

    Hello,

This happens on my mobile device when a presenter uses the Powerpoint tab  (browse) method. We want to use this function as it apparently saves on bandwidth as you are presenting from a hosted file. When I join from my mobile android device nothing shows up. I am signed in with a guest account to the team. If I use the share desktop it works, if I sign in anonymously without signing into the app (so use the join as guest button without signing in) it works.

Permissions are set correctly...Is this a bug for some devices?

I am having the exact same issue! If I run Teams on my Windows Desktop and share content with the "PowerPoint" or "Browse" options then NO clients using Teams for Android can see the shared content. It appears on their screens as if nothing is shared. Desktop PCs using Teams have no problems. I can share "Desktop" or "Window" and Android clients can see the content, but that is not what I want to do.

    Thanks for any feedback...

    Hi AWDROffice

Thanks for your post in the community.

From your description, we'd like to know if the issue appear when you use Teams client on PC. Besides, is there the error message or what is the phenomenon when you don't view PPTs on Teams mobile app?

Besides, if you select PowerPoint directly to share, as a workaround, you can choose the method of sharing Desktop and open the PPT like the screenshot below.

If you have anything unclear, please feel free to let us know.

    Regards,

    Joey
