Hi Megan,
Thanks for your follow up.
The students don't need to attach a file. They can just click the Turn in button to submit the assignment.
Thanks,
Ray

I have an assignment for students that is a Word Document. They must type in answers to questions on the document. In teams, students can edit their own copy. When a student opens the document in Word Online, how do they submit the assignment? Is their work that they do in Word Online also automatically saved to Teams? Or do they need to then download the Word Online document and attach it as a file to turn in the assignment?

Hi Megan,
Hope you are doing well.
Do you have any other questions? Feel free to post back to let me know.

Hi Megan,
No worries. The changes made in Word Online will be automatically synced to Teams.
Actually, no matter where the student edits the Word document, it is editing the same word file. The word document file is saved in the Teams associated SharePoint site a document library called Student Work. So, after saving the changes in Word online, the student can directly close the file and turn in the assignment or make other changes later.
If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know.
Thanks,
Ray
Hi Ray,
Thank you so much! Another quick question. So when the students need to submit the assignment, do they need to attach a file? Or do they just hit Turn In because it is synced to the file they were working on?
Thanks,
Megan
