Guest user access capacity

Hi.

I'm currently laying the ground works down for setting up a Team in Microsoft Teams for each employer client that we work with.

Each Team would consist of roughly the following memebers:

  • 2x internal tutors
  • 2x internal managers
  • 2+ guest managers
  • 5+ guest learners

I've come across a few references here and there saying that you can only have 5 guests per 1 office 365 license.

Is this the case? if so, is there any way other than buying additional 365 licenses to increase this?

I would need 900+ guests to get this working exactly how I want it to hence why I'm asking.

    Hello Deankingdk,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft community. Guest access is included with all Office 365 Business Premium, Office 365 Enterprise, and Office 365 Education subscriptions. No additional Office 365 license is necessary. Teams doesn't restrict the number of guests you can add. However, the total number of guests that can be added to your tenant is based on what your Azure AD licensing allows - usually 5 guests per licensed user. For more information, see Azure AD B2B collaboration licensing.

With Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) business-to-business (B2B) collaboration, you can invite External Users (or "guest users") to use your paid Azure AD services. Some features are free, but for any paid Azure AD features, you can invite up to five guest users for each Azure AD edition license that you own for an employee or a non-guest user in your tenant.

You may compare Azure Active Directory (AD) pricing information to find below information via https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/active-directory/

    Thanks and regards,

    Ankita Vaidya

    Hello Deankingdk,

We understand your situation but at this moment “For each paid Azure AD license that you own in your tenant, you can invite up to 5 guest users to the tenant. For additional guests beyond the 5th one you will need to purchase additional Azure AD paid licenses to cover the ratio required.”, we can not increase this 5 guest users limits.

However if you have any suggestion on it, we recommend you to submit your suggestion on our Uservoice link via https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public. We set that forum to collect your votes using feedback for Outlook, and the development team will check your suggestion there and may consider to develop it. We would think highly of each customer’s feedback on our product and we appreciate for your precious suggestion on how we could improve our products.

    Thanks and regards,

    Hi.

Thanks for the information, it's appreciated.

The answer is what I was expecting which means unfortunately i'll have to scale my project back, I was hoping to be able to have a Team per client employer which would mean I would need around 900+.

We only have 59 Office 365 Business Premium users so I would only be able to user around 250 which is a shame.
