Camera not working on Teams but working on other applications

Hello,

I've been using my Elgato 4k60 Pro as a substitute for a webcam for video conferencing because my setup did not have a proper webcam. Basically, Skype works very well, but Teams doesn't. Teams detects the device/driver, but only shows a black screen. In the test call it says that "Video isn't working. We couldn't use your camera." In the results, it just says "Didn't work" beneath the camera.

What do I do? How do I get it to work? All my drivers are up-to-date. Windows is up-to-date. Teams is up-to-date. I would appreciate any help.

I'm on Windows 10 Pro.

Hi all,

Sorry that you are experiencing this issue. I see that some of you are on the Windows Insider build 19592. If you are on this build then this is a known issue per this blog post.

https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2020/03/25/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-19592/

This issue is being fixed in the April 8 build, so if you update your build, the issue should be fixed.

If this doesn't resolve the issue for you, please let us know.

Rebecca

As of now everything is running again, but only because we changed the camera signal to 50 Hertz instead of 60 Hertz.

This is not a solution for us, but it works.

Why teams seem to have been updated to no longer respond to 60 hertz video signals, ignoring cameras, is beyond me. I hope that this behaviour will be changed in the next versions.

I also hope that teams become more stable and that features are not simply suddenly removed. This is not the way to use teams in a professional environment.

    Hi all,

Sorry that you are still having issues. Here's a few things to try and if these don't fix the issue, please let me know:

    1. Make sure you've got all the latest Windows updates (type "check for updates" into the Windows search bar on the bottom left of your screen and follow the prompts)
    2. Check if your camera is already being used by any other App (maybe Windows default Camera app or third party app) in which case, the Teams client will not be able to take over control of the camera and would appear as a black screen. This is easy to tell because if the camera is being used by another app, your camera light will stay on, even when you're not using Teams. If this is the case, you can update your camera settings with the next step.
    3. Make sure Teams has access to your camera (and disable access for other apps) by selecting the Start menu (Windows logo), selecting Settings (gear icon), then selecting Privacy > Camera. Scroll down and make sure "Allow apps to access my camera" is on. Then go down to "Choose which apps can access my camera" and ensure that Teams is enabled and disable any apps that may be currently accessing your camera.

I know that many of you have tried some of these steps, so I'm listing them out here for the benefit of other customers reading this post.

Let me know how this goes.

    Thank you!

    Rebecca

I've been having the exact same issue for a few days now.  Every other app works with the camera except Teams desktop app.

    Windows 10 version 2004 (Build 19592.1001)

    Microsoft Teams Version 1.3.00.4461

I hope this helped. I will be around in case you need something else.

    Thank you.
