When joining a meeting my microphone is not always working

So I have this strange issue when I join a meeting that my microphone is not always working.

Case 1: Direct Chat

If I call a user with teams directly this seems to work always.

Case 2: Join Meeting

Joining a meeting, I can hear the others speak, but they sometimes hear some strange noises, ever so lightly. If I reconnect multiple times, it seems to work.

Workstation

  • Windows 10 Pro 1803
  • Teams x64
  • Bitdefender (Disabling doesn't help)

Note:

  • Different workstation, same account, different network = No problem
  • Different workstation, different account, same network = No problem
  • On the test network, there is no proxy or firewall

It seems to be someone Windows 10 / Teams / Bitdefender combination which has issues.

If someone could give me direction!

Best Regards,

Glenn

    Hello Anna,

    I've assigned a network engineer to troubleshoot the problem and I will report back when We've figured out the issue.

    If you could provide "real-time" support to troubleshoot the issue that would help us allot. We can't find anything from the LAN up to the WAN interface, there are no QoS, Firewall Rules or other blocking rules.

    I'm very certain it's not an audio issue because it works fine when calling directly (peer-to-peer).

    1. Peer-to-peer real-time communication video_wlan  <-> video_wlan (LAN Only IP's...) OK

    2. Peer-to-peer real-time communication video_wlan <-> mobile_hotspot (external client) OK

    3. Conference video_wlan <-> video_wlan **NOK:**Both clients cannot speak

    4. Conference video_wlan <-> mobile_hotspot **NOK:**The mobile_hotspot client can speak the video_wlan client cannot

    5. Conference mobile_hotspot1<-> mobile_hotspot2 OK: Both clients can speak

    Networks:

    • video_wlan: Is a transparent network for our microsoft surface hub devices, yoga, ect.. without any firewall, QoS, ect...  (there are only 8 clients connected, speed is 50 Mbit, speed test is OK, no network problems)

    - mobile_hotspot : Is a mobile phone hotspot sharing it's 4G connection

    - mobile_hotspot1/2 : Are separate mobile hotspots

    I strongly suspect the issue is at our WAN egress point, but we currently have no way to monitor.

    Lets see what the network engineer have to say...

    Best Regards,

    Glenn
