MacBook Air camera and microphone not working with Teams

Hi, I’m running a mid-2013 MacBook Air with the latest version of MacOS and Teams. Starting a few days ago, when i attempt a video call in Teams, the person I am attempting to meet with cannot see or hear me. The camera light on on the MacBook to does not illuminate to indicate it is active. However, I can see and hear the other person as normal, and I am also able to successfully share my screen with them even though they cannot see or hear me.

If I start a video call using Skype for Business from the same MacBook, everything works normally (ie the other person can see and hear me), so I know the camera and microphone are working.

Finally, I am also running an iMac with the same versions of MacOS and Teams installed, and I can conduct video calls normally.

Any ideas how the problem with Teams on my MacBook Air can be rectified? Thanks

I had the same problem, and then I discovered how I didn't give Teams permissions to access camera. Installer should probably ask for this, but it's likely via a dialog that that installer doesn't control, so it's often open behind all other windows, and then it gets ignored and eventually closed or auto-closed (e.g. upon reboot) - and then, of course it ain't working...

So, System Preferences > Security & Privacy > [Unlock] > Select Camera within the list on the left > make sure checkbox for Teams is selected within the list on the right.

Probably double-check the same for the microphone.

Then, you'll have to quit Teams for this to apply. Then, start Teams, and within its own settings > Devices, verify that camera preview is showing your phace :)

    Good luck!

Teams works great on my Mac Air however the ONLY issue I'm having is the mic isn't working.  Kills me because I can connect into meetings a share desktop.  I'm just using my phone instead.

Does anyone else still have this issue?

Hi, I am trying to use the built-in (FaceTime HD) camera, and the settings are all correct in the application. This internal camera and the internal microphone work fine with all other applications (including MS Skype), but not Teams. As I mentioned in my original post, I have another Mac (2017 iMac) running the same versions of MacOS and Teams and everything works. The problem is with my mid-2013 MacBook Air. Teams worked fine for several months on the MacBook Air, until a couple of days ago when it stopped being able to access the built-in camera and internal microphone.

I have tried deleting the Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams folder and reinstalling Teams, but this does not fix the problem.

Could this be an unintended incompatibility between the latest version of Teams and the hardware used in the mid-2013 MacBook Air?

So my work around right now, so I can see peoples shares on my desktop, is to connect twice.

Connect via cell Teams app and use audio

Connect via Mac Team app, mute volume, and look at screen

Not idea but is working.  Pisser the mic won't work on my Mac.  I hope MSFT updates Teams with a fix soon.

Funny I was just started to love Teams :)
