Group policy in teams not being applied to group members

I'm new to Teams and to Microsoft 365 administration, but I read a lot about the topic and i didn't find solution.

I assigned a custom meeting policy to a group in teams. but the global (org-wide policy) meeting policy is still ruling the users who are member of this group. when I assign the rule directly to the user, it's being applied correctly. So the problem is only when I apply the rule to a group. It's a group of the type: security group.

I followed the instructions of this article: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/batch-group-policy-assignment-edu

Thank you for your help

Ok thank you, removing the global org-wide policy from the users has solved the problem. But this article https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/MicrosoftTeams/assign-policies is stating exactly the opposite and it makes more sense to me.

    Hello T0ni.dd,

By default, users automatically get the Global (Org-wide default) policy in Microsoft Teams. And since a user's effective policy is determined by the precedence rules, so the default Global (Org-wide default) policy takes precedence than the group policy you assigned.

Given this reason, please make sure you have followed the steps in this part "Remove a policy that was directly assigned to users" to remove that default meeting policy from the user before they can inherit a meeting policy from a security group.

    Best regards,

    Jennifer
