    Hi

My name is Daniel. I am an Independent Advisor and consumer of Microsoft products, I will be more than happy to help you.

I understand how confusing it can be.

This error message indicates the phone number is still being used as an alias on some Microsoft account. So that means you actually can log in with your phone number.

So in this case, please try to log in to Microsoft teams using the phone number, after you hit enter you will be asked your password. On a window you will see something like this "email code to xxx@xxx", this is where the number is associated with the account.

After you have logged in, if you want to add/remove the phone number as an alias from the associate MS account then please visit the following link https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=529489

    Kind Regards

I had this issue and scoured the internet to figure this out. Instead of signing into your Microsoft account, use the phone number as the sign in name. Then select "forgot password" and Microsoft will let you text the verification code to you. Then sign in with the verification code and you are into the account and can change things! If you don't have a phone number you're still out of luck, unfortunately.

It's absolutely idiotic that they require you to have a phone number and then won't accept the fact that you are receiving the codes as proof that the other associated account needs to be deleted. Even more idiotic that Microsoft weren't the ones to provide us with the workaround.

Way to demonstrate you're a bloated organization who rely on a near monopoly to stay in business Microsoft!

Can someone from Microsoft please help me with this????

The only solution so far was to direct me here, so I can see that other people are also unable to fix it.

It's 2021. We just landed a car on Mars. There has to be a way to remove a phone number from a deleted account.
