getting a full version of Microsoft Teams onto a Chromebook

I am trying to set up a 11.6" Asus Chromebook to be used in a hospital ER so we can do video conferencing using Microsoft Teams.  Before I purchased this Chromebook, I read that this could be done.  However, after I got this Chromebook, I have been unable to download a full version of Microsoft Teams onto this Chromebook.  I wanted to get a Chromebook because it is small, light, fast, and cheap, and I don't need this device for anything other than video conferencing.  So, here is my question:  Is there anyway to download a workable full version of Microsoft Teams on to a Chromebook with the operation system of Chrome OS Version 76.0.3809.136?  Thanks, Mark Enderle

The simply way to use Teams on Chromebook is just go to Teams on you address bar and enter your user name and password . No app is needed .

Hi, my children's school district is using the teams platform, and we are using a surface pro with one of my daughters and a chromebook with the other. I have downloaded the android teams app from the Play store, but the functionality is significantly limited relative to the surface pro app, as it is designed to be used on a phone screen, not a laptop screen. This includes, but is not limited to the inability to chat during a live video call (if you chat on the app you pause the video stream) and so on. Are there plans to upgrade the android/ChromeOS app to more closely track with the functionality of the other app versions? And yes, we also have tried using the chrome browser version, but that only allows four concurrent video streams, so has its own constraints.

    Hi Mark,

This is Wil, one of the independent advisor, an expert with Windows 10 and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I understand your concern about downloading Microsoft Teams on Chromebook.

Let's make sure first that you are downloading Microsoft Teams on the right channel. Kindly open the Google Play Store app and search Microsoft Teams on the search bar and hit the download button. You may also download it from this link. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=c...

If you encounter any error message with regards to download or installation, kindly provide it to me so I can check if its a Microsoft-related error or a Google-related error. I hope that you can reply back as quickly as possible so I can help you out further. Have a nice day.

    Thanks,

    Wilfred P.

I signed in just to post this message.

DO NOT purchase that HP stream.

I repeat! DO NOT GET IT!!

Once the updates are done, you can't even download a 2mb word file into that 32GB.

If its a different spec, you may proceed. But if it is 32GB, RUN!!

Edit: I checked the website. Now its available in 64GB version. I used the 32GB one with xubuntu until it was so unbearable that i tore it apart and snapped the processors away (I am generally a very placid and perseverant guy and don't enjoy wasting resources.)

I am quite sure the 64GB version will let you install the teams app at first, but after a couple of months, you'll sure start getting full screen obtrusive dialog boxes saying you need to clean up space for "necessary" updates. you wont have anything to delete, just the update bloats that you cant remove anyway. and a channels of dialogs with only "Ok" buttons and nothing else will lead to the microsoft page saying "Get a new pc".

    I have been there.

    DON'T DO IT!!

Hi Wilfred.  I appreciate your effort to solve this issue.  I have spoken with Asus, the Chromebook manufacturer, and they told me this could not be done on this particular device.  I have decided to return this Chromebook and get a light and thin HP Stream 11.6" windows laptop.  It is more money, but it has windows, and that is what all of our other work and facility clients have on our/their devices.  And in regards to Teams working on Android, I was able to do this on my phone, but one of the functions was missing, and that was the function of a calendar and meet now option.  Asus told me that their chromebooks were not fully integrated with Android apps until their 2019 models.  I think the one I had was manufactured in 2014.  Again, thanks for your time and effort.  Mark
