Hi ELIE. Thank you for reaching out, my name is Jayson an Independent Advisor for Microsoft Community and a user just like you. I'll be glad to assist you.

I understand that you are receiving emails regarding some password reset code. If you say that you did not use password reset on anythin, this might be a Phishing Link. I would advise not to open them or click the link as it would make you vulnerable to all sort of bad activities.

To stop receiving these types of emails, please mark them as spam. So it will go directly to your spam folder.

It could also mean that your account might have already been compromised. I would suggest changing your login credentials/passwords on all of your accounts.

Please click the link for more information and ways on how to prevent this from happening.

    Hi Jayson

Your response does not resolve the issue unfortunately.  I have the same problem as the OP -- I am receiving 4 or 5 genuine "Password reset code" emails from @accountprotection.microsoft.com EVERY DAY to my other email account (Gmail) that I use for forgotten password resets.  It is absolutely doing my head in!  They are not phishing emails, I've carefully checked the sender email and it isn't a lookalike domain, it is from Microsoft itself, and each one contains a different 7-letter code.  They are formatted like the real thing because they are the real thing.

Clearly, some sort of bot is endlessly hitting the "Forgot password" link using my email address.  What can I do to stop receiving these emails?  If I set up a filter to immediately move them to the Trash in my other email account, then the times that I might actually need to use the forgotten password feature, I'm going to have to remember to go looking in my Trash for the Microsoft password reset code.

I have of course changed my password to a new password, but it has not made any difference.

Please help me and OP and no doubt many others who are wondering where and who they can ask to get this resolved.  Thank you!

    Yes, those are the ones.

From what I can see from a search on "password reset codes" there are several other threads on this board raising the same issue. This must be a widespread problem. As one post suggested on another thread, it is has the characteristics of an attempt to brute force account security, though what can be achieved without actually having access to the secondary accounts to receive the codes is unclear.

Me too, I get them often. As you can see the email is from "******@accountprotection.microsoft.com". I thought it would be helpful to post a screenshot so we can all compare:

I have the same problem. Genuine Microsoft reset codes have recently started arriving in my secondary email account 2-3 times or more daily. I have changed my password more than once, done a complete full malware, virus and rootkit scan of all drives on my computer, de-registered any computers except this one and and added two factor authentication to my account. It just keeps on happening.
