Microphone not working ONLY with Teams and Zoom

Bought a corsair headset and the mic works fine for everything except Teams and Zoom. When I make a test call, I can clearly hear myself when it plays back the audio. Even in settings, where there's a bar that picks up audio, my voice is clearly picked up. However, it says that there's an issue with my mic and people cannot hear me in actual calls... I've tried a lot of fixes, such as troubleshooting and doing the custom setting. This happens on my PC and on my laptop, so I wonder if it's just my headset that isn't compatible with Teams and Zoom. This is an issue because I need a mic for my classes and the one on my laptop isn't that great.

    Hi Mythlea,

As Microsoft Teams is working to add more certified devices, we may expect new Bluetooth devices to be supported in upcoming releases. Also, manufacturers are joining Microsoft device certification program, so, I believe Micorosft Teams to be updated to support their devices.

    Regards

    Nik

    Hi Mythlea,

I understand that when you connect with your Bluetooth headphone, it passes the test call but it doesn't pick mic when in the call.

Not all Bluetooth headsets are compatible with MS Teams, so Microsoft worked with device partners and come up with Teams certified devices to market, and they continue to bring new:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/m...

Certified for Microsoft Teams: Devices certified at this level indicate, for a no-compromise Teams experience. These devices offer all of the benefits of prior certification and also include a dedicated Teams button with LED indicator. With most form factors, the Teams button will be an easy-to-find tactile button with the Teams logo. Microsoft continues to work with device manufacturers to deliver new value via firmware updates over time.

When I looked into it further, I found some UserVoice where similar issue discussed, I would suggest to participant in UserVoice and report your bug directly to Microsoft Teams forum for improvements to the developer team:

Please let me know if you have any further questions on this and I will be happy to help.

My headset is indeed a wireless one. Also, i have tried messing with the settings countless times without any success. As i said before, test calls don’t fix my issues either. I can hear myself in the test call but Teams says that it doesn’t pick my mic up anyway and people can’t hear me in calls.

    Also,

Just to rule out that headset detected by MS Teams and it has been configured correctly in Teams app.

To select the mic, speaker, and camera you want Teams to use for calls and meetings, click your profile picture at the top of Teams, then Settings > Devices.

    • Under Audio devices, pick the speaker and mic you want Teams to use by default.

To make a test call, select your profile picture, then Settings > Devices.

    • Choose Make a test call under Audio devices.

    Hi Mythlea,

I'm Nik, an independent advisor here to assist you with this.

If I may ask, is it a wireless headset to wired one? there are some compatibility issues with Bluetooth headsets, and several users have reported issues related to Microphone.

    Regards

    Nik
