Audio/Video setup for using Microsoft Remote Desktop on Mac to access Teams on remote PC

I use a PC running  running Windows 10 Pro 10.0.17134 as my primary system.  When away from the office (which means all the time, thanks COVID-19), I use Microsoft Remote Desktop 10.3.8 on my Mac under Mojave 10.14.3 to remotely access the PC.  I want to use Microsoft Teams 1.3.00.3564 on the PC for chat and audio/video calls - which means I need to redirect the camera, mic, and speakers from the devices on the PC (Logitech HD Webcam 915C camera/mic and Dell speakers) to the built-in devices on my Mac.

On the PC, I have tried to setup Teams to select the Mac's devices, without success.  Results differ based on what I configure:

Scenario #1: If I enable all of the Redirect check boxes under Devices & Audio in Remote Desktop on the Mac, and selected the option to play sound on "On this computer" under "Audio" on Teams on the PC, I can select only "Custom Setup", which defines Speaker as "Remote Audio" and Microphone as "None".  "Camera" only lets me choose "Logitech HD Webcam C615", not the remote camera in my Mac. When I initiate a test call, I get a "No Microphone" error, cannot see any video (which I believe is not part of the Test Call process???), but can hear the audio.

Scenario #2: If I enable all of the Redirect check boxes under Devices & Audio in Remote Desktop on the Mac EXCEPT "Microphone", and selected the option to play sound on "On this computer" under "Audio" on Teams on the PC, I can select only "Custom Setup", which defines Speaker as "Remote Audio" and Microphone as "None".  But in this scenario, "Camera" also lets me choose "randys-macbook- -FaceTime HD Camera", which is the remote camera in my Mac. When I initiate a test call, I get a "No Microphone" error, CAN see my camera as thumbnail,  and CAN hear the audio.

Scenario #3: If I enable all of the Redirect check boxes under Devices & Audio in Remote Desktop on the Mac EXCEPT "Camera", and selected the option to play sound on "On this computer" under "Audio" on Teams on the PC, I get the same results as Scenario #1: I can select only "Custom Setup", which defines Speaker as "Remote Audio" and Microphone as "None".  "Camera" only lets me choose "Logitech HD Webcam C615", not the remote camera in my Mac. When I initiate a test call, I get a "No Microphone" error, cannot see any video, but can hear the audio.

I don't know is the issue is with Teams of Remote Desktop, but its's impacting my productivity.  Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can provide further info.

Gazillions of people are trying to work remotely and Microsoft can't write a few lines of code to recognize Macs have built in cameras and microphones? This issue has been brought up for years. How am I supposed to be in a remote desktop session from Mac into my PC while simultaneously running Teams on my Mac?! It can only be one computer at a time.

I finally fixed the issue as follows:

Logged out of teams and simply logged back in Teams. The camera and Microphone was there.

If the Microphone or camera are not available ensure the following:

In the Microsoft Remote Desktop application in the Mac ensure that the Camera and the Microphone are selected.

On the windows desktop ensure the following:

    1. Open Device Manager, Your camera should be available. If it s not then reinstall it by Scan for hardware changes.

In the Microsoft Search box (Magnifying glass at the task bar) search for "Privacy".

Camera and Microphone are part of the App permissions.

Clicking on Camera will show you which Store apps can access your camera. Adjust accordingly. Scroll down until you see Allow Desktop apps to access your camera. Adjust as desired. Repeat the same if needed for Microphone.

Potentially you might have to set the Privacy settings in the Mac. Similarly Search for Security & Privacy. Then navigate to Privacy, Select Camera on the let hand side and Allow Microsoft Remote Desktop to access your camera repeat the same for your Microphone.

The above should have helped; if not good luck hunting to fix this problem.

I'm not sure if this helps, it sounds like you're all fairly knowledgeable and probably tried all this...

    1. Checked 'Cameras' under 'Devices & Audio' in the 'Redirect:' option in Microsoft Remote Desktop
    2. Restarted remote desktop session.  Nothing.
    3. On Windows PC I'm logging into, 'Camera' app didn't work.
    4. On the Windows PC I'm logging into, checked 'Skype' in Settings - Privacy - Camera: Choose which Microsoft Store apps can access your camera.  (Bear with me here...)
    5. Ran 'Skype for Business'.  It was able to see my camera.  'Skype for Business' now appears under 'Allow desktop apps to access your camera' in Privacy settings for camera.
    6. Noticed in Device Manager my 'FaceTime HD Camera (Built-in)' now visible under 'Remote Desktop Camera devices'.  Sorry, I didn't check this before, timestamp MAY indicate Skype activated it - but that may be red-herring.
    7. Restarted my PC, with toes and fingers crossed.
    8. Relaunched Microsoft Teams (with new Microsoft Remote Desktop session obviously).
    9. Teams can now access my camera, and Microsoft Teams now appears under 'Allow desktop apps to access camera.

It worked for me, sorry about the lack of systematic approach, red-herrings or reasoning.

Hi Paul - I'm using Microsoft Remote Desktop 10.3.2 (1650). The setting described in point 1. was found under Context (right-click) menu on the desktop, select 'Edit'.  'Devices & Audio' is the third tab button to the right.

    Hope this helps.

I am trying to work from home too and yes it would be nice if Team worked over RDP we also use another 3rd party VOIP softphone which would be good to get working.

Currently, when I use my Apple Airpods I can hear any audio just fine, but the mic does not work.

I am running Windows 10 Pro 1809 on my work laptop.

I am running  Mac OSX Catalina  10.15.4 on my Macbook Pro.

RDP on my Mac is Version 10.3.8 (1747)

How do I enable Mic redirection?

You guys seem to have alot more options under the RDP software for your Macs, I don't even see

    "

    1. Checked 'Cameras' under 'Devices & Audio' in the 'Redirect:' option in Microsoft Remote Desktop"

    For example.
