    Hi Heidi,

I am one of the community member.

    Yes, you can get a transcript if you have recorded the meeting. Go to the Microsoft Stream, where you will find the video. I answered this post at my work Yammer sometime ago and many found it useful, so easy copy paste here for you ;

    • You need to be the owner firstly,
    • Go to MS Stream and find you video
    • Below the video, next to Like button, there are three dots, the ellipsis, click on that. You will find "update video detail' with a pencil symbol, click on it.
    • The "Option" will pop up on the right side of the screen. But before you go there, just above your video, you need to select the language. Select English or any other language.
    • Then go to Option and select “Autogenerate Captions”. Then hit “apply” above. You will need to wait for double the length of the time the video was. Yes, that is how long it takes for the transcript.
    • Pick below for illustration. Hope this helps. Regards, Vas :)

    Hi Hayley,

My name is RY, I'm an Independent Advisor and community member like you.

Let us work together regarding your query about enabling transcription in Microsoft Teams.

If you want to allow ability to transcribe meetings, you need to turn it ON in the Microsoft Teams Admin Center and it was located under "meeting policy".

If you turn this off, the Search and CC options won't be available during playback of a meeting recording. The person who started the recording needs this setting turned on so that the recording also includes transcription.

You may refer on this articles for more details on this:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams...

Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns.

    Thank you!

    Regards,

    RY

Is there an option of starting Transcription without recording? I see in Teams meeting there is an option of "Start Transcription" but in the pop-up window it only records a few words and then stops. Is it a glitch or I missed doing something? I am using Windows 10 on a tablet.

    You are welcome Heidi.

All recordings you do on Teams go straight to the Stream. That is automatic.

And you can do get the transcript there as well as on your meeting chat. Sometimes, perhaps as it happened in your case it might not have appeared in the chat after the meeting. I not aware of the reason.

The Teams has a transcript function which you can enable at the time of the meeting, that is unrelated to recording. You don't have to record, you can enable the transcript by at the time of your meeting by clicking on the ellipsis at the top. You don't have to be the organizer of the meeting for that.

    Cheers,

    Vas

Having the same issue here and for us it looks to be caused by the service trying to connect to https://mi.svcs.teams.office.com:8080/ . Port 8080 isn't accessible via our internet proxy servers.  Why not 443??? raising a Microsoft Support ticket to find out!!
