Hi there,

On the MS Teams, we see the following messages

  • In a meeting
  • In a call

Q. What is the difference between both of them?

Regards,

Chandra

    Hi,

I'll try to reply to your question.

Lets take the first one -

    1. In a meeting - This means that the person is part of a meeting which is currently going on. It's not necessary that he/she has actually joined that meeting but he/she has just accepted the meeting invite of that meeting.
    2. In a call - This is quite obvious. This simply means that the person has actually joined the meeting and is on a call.

Apart from these 2 statuses, there is one more status which says "Presenting".

As the name suggests, the person is not only a part of the meeting but also presenting it, or organizing it by sharing his screen.

I hope this has helped you.

    Aditya Gautam.

That was so not helpful. That link does not even mention "meeting" or "call"

I don't think this is the case. I now see people talking in the meeting but their presence is "in a meeting" for some and "in a call" for others. This is not consistent

In a meeting - It means his Outlook calendar is set for a meeting for this time

In a call - It means person is in a call

The status is not always consistent... a minor bug

Mostly when i join a meeting  (which is also in calendar) , my status changes to "in a call"

Sporadically for the exact same situation of joining a meeting it shows "in a meeting"
