I am having the same problem. Many of my students are getting this error message 12 hours after posting the assignment. They are accessing this through their student accounts with the public school county. Is this due to the amount of students also accessing teams? Here is a picture of the message. My students are all very frustrated, so I would be grateful for a solution
Assignment not showing up
Hello,
I have created Assignment and added student, but student after opening assignment only sees "You’ve been added to a new assignment and it should appear soon."
Is there some kind of disturbances in Microsoft or I have to wait?

From my experience, it should not be taken hours to let the assignment show up for students. You may try to update that assignment in the web side: https://teams.microsoft.com/ to see whether this status changes or not. At the same time, to exclude client issue, you can also let the student check this assignment in a browser.
And if problem still persists, please kindly share us a screenshot of an entire page of that message, so that we can make a further analysis on your situation.
