Hello,

I'm working as IT support in a school and a student is using teams on iPad but keeps getting this message when trying to join meetings:

"teams needs permission to participate in a call or meeting, go to settings and allow teams to use your mic."

But the when going to Settings > Teams there is no microphone option. What could be the issue?

Hi Fatima_470,

Thanks for posting in this forum. This phenomenon might be caused when installing Microsoft Teams app, I’d like to test for you for confirmation, but since I don’t have iPad device in my Office, I cannot test it at present, your understanding is appreciated. Regarding this issue,  I recommend you could try to clear app data or re-install Microsoft Teams app from the app store, then when you open Microsoft Teams app next time, view whether it will prompt to let you agree Microsoft Teams to use microphone of the device. If so, just select Agree, Microsoft Teams should be able to use microphone of iPad.

Welcome to feedback here if there is any update from your side.

Best Regards,

Betty

Any additional information on this thread? I have reinstalled the app 4 times and still not able to access the microphone.

I am experiencing the same issue for a single user.

iPhone has latest iOS (It didn't, but upgrading the iOS did not resolve the issue)

Removing & reinstalling Teams and clearing the app data did not cause a mic prompt to come up, nor does a slider show for permissions in settings / Teams.

It's like the Teams app forgot to tell iOS that it needs permissions for the mic, and not because the request didn't happen , it can't ask again.

I removed the app data, uninstalled Teams, shut down the phone.

Powered on the phone, installed Teams, signed in as a different user (same credentials, but trying to prevent reading any saved account info)...

Same thing - no permissions, and no slider to give it permissions.

I found another solution cause the one up there didn’t work for me ..

Go to your Ipad settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

Go to your Ipad settings > General > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy

I also delete the app and reinstall it again .. and surprise it works 😄

    Hi Betty,

I am having the same problem that Greg Smith is describing with an iPhone 11. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted, etc. and the problem is not resolved.
