Backstage is only a feature function of the Windows version of Office, not the Mac, So, you would have to be running Windows with Office for Windows in order to access that.

The features you are looking for are in different places on the Mac.

    UPDATES:

Use the Help menu and choose Check for Updates

    PROPERTIES:

Use File >  Properties to display document and other properties

    VERSIONS:

These are available if you save to OneDrive or SharePoint, but not when saving to other locations.

    PROTECT DOCUMENT:

These options are on the Ribbon in the Review tab and also in File > Save As > Options dialogs

What class are you taking that you are having a problem with?

Give us a screen capture of what you see when you click on the file "menu"/tab in Word 365 or Excel 365.

Here is the "backstage" view of Word 2016 (Windows) in the File menu > Account command:

The "backstage view" is just the fancy name for the "phat" menu that is displayed when you click on the File tab in the ribbon

Open- Restore classic Open / Save As dialog in Word 2016 / 2013http://in5stepstutorials.com/ms-word/restore-classic-word-open-save-as-dialog.php****Word 2010 introduced the ribbon, but still used the standard Open dialog and Save As window to open and save your documents. As of Word 2013 and Word 2016, those have been replaced by default with the Backstage view (see screenshot). Fortunately, for those who prefer the simpler -I think- approach, you can restore the old Open and Save dialogs to the classic popup dialogs.

    Hello Timkpr53,

    << I'm just a random forum user here >>

You mean something like this? (see screenshot)

I think it's only Windows version. Office for Mac is totally different software (source code), and it doesn't have it

Why do you need the backstage view? It's just visuals :P

Hey Tim. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Backstage View isn't included in Office for Mac unfortunately, as I discovered researching this for you here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/fo...

Can you borrow a Windows laptop and have your Uni install Windows Office so you can access It here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/start-... ?

Since so many students have Mac's it is surprising your instructor or IT desk at school doesn't know this and provide for it.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
