Microsoft Outlook for Mac started crashing at launch after updating to 16.65 on Beta Channel.

I was in the beta channel (not anymore) I have version 16.72 - latest and for some reason outlook started crashing like you described...

here is the error report:

I am not able to find the paths described in the error message. anyone, please help.

Luckily I have another Mac (a late-2012 MacMini on macOS Catalina) running the stable (16.64) versions of Office applications. Using the built-in support channel of Outlook for Mac v16.64, I got this almost immediate response from the support team:

Thank you for your time, Refik. I would like to inform you that we are aware of this issue and would like you to know that this issue you're experiencing has been reported to the Development Team along with your ticket and we are working diligently to fix this. The report is already being filed with the concerned team. I understand the severity of the issue and the requirement for the resolution. Since this needs to be tested and the fix needs to be rolled out, we would not be able to provide an ETA on the fix.

I downgraded to 16.64 without any issues (apart from time spent, of course).

This is fourth time this is happening.

And the last three took place during the updates to 16.62, 16.65, and 16.66. All victims were macOS Catalina users.

Developers at Microsoft should spend more time on compatibility issues for Catalina users before releasing new beta versions.

Downgrading/downdating to a previous version is always time consuming and risky. And you never know when to update to a later version.

It is for sure that I will leave the Beta Channel and switch off automatic downloads/updates when this problem is fixed.
