How to zoom in the window of another app

Hi all,

When presenting apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint in Teams, sometimes people ask me to enlarge the window of the apps, e. g. to show the ribbon bigger. They ask me, why it is not possible with Teams, and tell me, that it is possible with *Zoom.*I know, I could use the Windows magnifier. But people tell, the magnifier is not what they mean.

I did not find a possibility in Teams to enlarge the screen of other apps. Maybe, Teams does not offer such a feature?

Best regards,

Lisa

    Hi

My name is Daniel. I am an Independent Advisor.

Here's the keyboard shortcuts to resize the window:

Zoom Out = Ctrl + Minus Key.

Zoom In = Ctrl + Plus key.

Zoom to 100% = Ctrl + Zero key.

Could you please just using MS team online instead, Ctrl + Plus indeed will insert new cells in Excel. However, when you are using a web browser you can use the magnifying glass then click + or - to zoom in/out, so you won't need to keyboard shortcuts anymore. As you can see on my screenshot I was able to zoom in excel up to 200% (even more) on the web browser.

    Thanks for your answer,

Unfortunately, there are many pupils without a big monitor. Some pupils have just a tablet.

And I have to teach them from morning to afternoon, how to use Word, or how to use Excel, or how to use PowerPoint. So I understand, that they sometimes would like to see some details zoomed in...

    Best regards,

    Lisa

Unfortunately, that's the current limitation of the MS Team app. Please refer to this article as well:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/zoom-in-and-out-of-teams-dc3cd3d8-efb5-4995-8b31-434b3943ba52

You can also use MS Team online https://teams.microsoft.com please go to your computer then open your chrome or edge browser as recommended browsers. Then resize the web page by pressing Ctrl + key or Ctrl - Key to resize the web page interface and see how it goes.

Having said that, I wanna add additional tips. To have a bigger view, please make sure you ask the participant to pin your shared screen on their end: https://myteamsday.com/2019/10/01/teams-meeting...

You can use the Spotlight feature in a Teams meeting to put the focus on a specific person for all participants, in this case only meeting presenters can spotlight a participant.  This is different from “Pin participant”, which allows an individual to pin a video feed for their own view but not for the view of all meeting participants.

Please refer to this article on how to spotlight in MS Team:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/spot...

    Hi Daniel,

The keyboard shortcuts work for the Teams windows itself.

But when you share your screen with Word opened (or Excel, or PowerPoint), the shortcuts do not help. For example, Ctrl + Plus will insert new cells in Excel.

In Word or within the other Apps you can zoom the document, to show it more detailed. But you cannot zoom the window, to show an enhanced ribbon for example.

    Kind regards,

    Lisa
