MS Teams - robot voice with bluetooth headset

Hi there

I've purchased a new JBL headset to use for work, in particular MS Teams, because of the amount of time I spend using MS Teams daily.

It seems the headset works fine for normal use, Windows' sounds, listening to Spotify, etc.

As soon as I use it for a MS Teams call, the sound changes to a robot voice, to the point where you cannot interpret what is being said at all.

Looking at the forums, it seems if you change to custom settings and change your mic to the PC mic, then the sound suddenly works fine again. I tested it and it seemed to work.

Problem is, it now compromises the sound quality of my voice to the other callers, which seems a bit unnecessary.

Second issue is, it seems this problem back dates to almost a year ago from what I can see online.

Clearly this is a software issue that needs to be resolved. I'm hoping maybe there's a new driver available to fix the issue?

    Hey guys,

finally I found the reason why that happens to all of us.

The "handsfree-telephony" mode is active for the bluetooth headphone.

You can deactivate this useless function - in our cases - under devices settings.

Here is a bettter guide how to deactivate it

Since then I dont have had an issue once more with it :-)

    Have fun !

    Hi Michael

Thanks for the post. It is definitely a step towards a working solution.

Unfortunately, this option now pushes my voice to using the laptop's mic, resulting in a poor sound quality for people listening to me (like the hollow sound of an empty room, like most offices). The laptop is also prone to pick up a lost of surrounding noises.

It would be nice to have a solution that allows for the headset's mic to work as well...

    Regards

    Ian
