I can't see who is raising their hand but my students can

During a meeting this morning on Teams, we were taking attendance and I asked the students to use the raise hand feature to practice using it. I was not able to see who was raising their hand however the students could see it on their screens. Does anyone know how to fix this? Also, on tablets are students able to view chat and video at the same time and do they have the raise hand feature?

I also have the same problem for some weeks now. Updating, deleting Teams cache files and reistalling didn't help.

I don't see their hand until they start talking and often I then still see their hand up, even if they already "unraised" it.

    Good Afternoon,

In teams, in some of my classes but not all (settings are the same as far as I can tell), I do not see the yellow hand icon when students are raising their hand unless they also "Unmute" their microphone.  Students can see who has their hands raised prior to this but in order for me as the teacher/presenter, they need to unmute, which adds a cumbersome step and defeats much of the purpose of the hand raising function.

This was not occurring earlier in the year but started occurring a few weeks ago again only in some of my classes/meetings.

    Thank you,

    Brian

    Hi,

I'm facing the same issues. Whenever I use the breakout rooms function (which I am really fond of), the hand raising function stops working when we gather up in the main group again. It does not occur in any specific teams; only after I use the breakout groups function. For some reason the issue still persists when I exit the main meeting and open a new meeting.

I'm facing the exact same problem, in some of my channels (but not all). Did you manage to fix it?

    Hi KatieMM,

We can select ‘Show participants’ to see a list of everyone in attendance. Anyone who's raised their hand will have an icon next to their name. May I know did you see that?

And I suggest you check if you can see who is raising their hand using Teams on the web. Please go to https://teams.microsoft.com by using Chrome and Edge as recommended browsers.

If it is normal on web client, please try to reinstall the Teams app to the latest version then see the results.

We can view chat and video at the same time on tablets, but I do not recommend this because it is an unreasonable way and some problems may arise. And yes, raise hand feature is also available on the tablets.

    Thanks,

    Linda
