Microsoft Teams-Don't Have Permission to Schedule Meetings

Hello.  I am an independent consultant using Microsoft Teams.  I am setup as the administrator of the account, but am unable to schedule meetings.   I receive an error message that I don't have permissions to create private meetings and channels.  I can attend Microsoft Team meetings that someone else schedules.  Can you help?

Thanks, Linda

    Hello, Linda!

I have same problem with Teams. I noticed a day ago that some students created hidden groups. I deleted them and then decided to restrict students' rights.

I found this solution - Manage who can create Microsoft 365 Groups | Microsoft Docs

I entered the Microsoft Teams Administration Center and I think I changed the 2 Team Policies. Then I followed Manage who can create Microsoft 365 Groups - step 1 - Create a security group for users who need to create Microsoft 365 groups, then, in step 2 I stopped, because I did not know how to work with Power Shell (I found it difficult). This morning, some colleagues and after a while the other teachers told me that they no longer see the Meet now button and that they can no longer fill in the spaces for invitations and groups at the Meeting; the message appears: you do not have permission to create private meeting teams. Then I thought the Security group I had created was to blame and I deleted it. But the Meet now button has not appeared, nor can the spaces required for the meeting be filled in.

I asked for the help of 2 Microsoft consultants. The first of them recommended this option to me: Manage who can create Microsoft 365 Groups | Microsoft Docs

The link sent told me something I had just tried and had led to the defect reported above.

I stopped going and asked for the help of another consultant. The second one didn't understand what I wanted (because of my broken English).

I found, after many searches on the net, another post by a lady (unfortunately I can't find the post anymore), but I show it below, with images. I did so and after about 2-3 hours (because the servers need to be updated) everything returned to normal.

Then, to restrict the rights of group members, follow this

You don't have permissions to create private meetings and channels - Microsoft Community

I hope it helps others too!

    Hello Linda,

My name is Juan Pedro and I'm a fellow customer and expert user. I will be more than happy to assist you today!

If you are the Admin, you should be able to change Meeting Policies by following the instructions under "Assign a meeting policy to users" in the following link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams...

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Sincerely,

    Juan Pedro
