Microsoft Lists - creating a reminder for upcoming due date of the task

Hello, I would like to ask if there is any way how to create a reminder in Microsoft Lists when the due date of some specific task is close?

I know about the Alert settings but these do not enable me to set such alert.

Thank you very much for your suggestions,

Julie

    Dear Tina,

    thank you for your reply.

Honestly, setting rules with this ways of working is quite complicated for me and I would really appreciate if it is a built-in function.

I know about User Voice feedback, however, a notification that our company does not allow us to contribute there, appeared.

I have as well my private Windows account and tried to made an input with it, nevertheless I did not succeed as well (uservoice required a company account).

If there is any other possibility how to express my feedback or if you can do it on my behalf, I would appreciate it.

    Kind regards,

    Julie

    Hi Julie,

I understand you want to set reminders for tasks only assigned to you.

You may try to create a condition in the flow, set Assigned is equals to you. Here are screenshots for your reference:

If you prefer a build-in function to create reminder for tasks assigned to you when due date is close, I recommend sharing your valuable feedback to UserVoice. This is the specific platform where developers can know your requirements and suggestions, help to improve the product and make it better for you and others. Many features are developed or upgraded based on users' comments. Thanks for your understanding.

    Best Regards,

    Tina

    Hi Julie,

Thanks for the clarification, it seems that you do have the "Set a reminder" button but it didn't work correctly as it never sent you notifications.

To solved this, you can go to Microsoft Power Automate > My flows to check the "Run history" and "Analytics" of your reminder flow, so that you may be able to see in which step the problem occurred.

    Best Regards,

    Arck

    Dear Arck,

Thank you very much for the reply above. It is very useful, however, is there a way to blend functionalities of SharePoint lists and the "My list" app? I have a task list in the "My List" app just because I like the visuals, the calendar, timeline and Gantt chart options, but I would very much like to have the conditional formatting options and set reminders based on due date and calculated columns similar to the features in a standard SharePoint list. Is that even planned to happen in the next couple of months? I tried using the Microsoft planner app for such a task list but the security options are just not the same and it would not do.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Julie,

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community, I'm glad to offer help.

According to your description, you can use the built-in reminder flow to receive a personal email alert a predetermined number of days in advance. For more details, please refer to SharePoint remind me.

However, based on my tests, I found that the "Set a reminder" button won't show up if we are working on a list created in "My lists" app, so you may need to make the list being created in a SharePoint site rather than in "My lists".

Hope the above information can be helpful, and please feel free to let me know if you have any concerns.

    Best Regards,

    Arck
