Hi, we're interested in the following questions.
We need to buy a Dell server that has 2x 8 Core / 16 Threads processors
They provide 2x 8-core Windows Server 2022 Standard licenses with the server.

Or it can be 2x 10 cores Dell server
And we must buy license for them.

We need to dyploy 5 virtual servers on that server via Hayper-V

  1. Windows Server 2022 Standard Processor: Minimum 4 Core CPU:
  2. Windows Server 2022 Standard Processor: Minimum 4 Core CPU:
  3. Windows Server 2022 Standard Processor: Minimum 4 Core CPU:
  4. Windows Server 2022 Standard Processor: Minimum 4 Core CPU:
  5. Windows Server 2022 Standard Processor: Minimum 2 CPU Cores:
One of these 4 Core CPU servers will have Active directory service installed; the other servers will be registered to this domain as well. This domain will need several folders to be shared with the other servers.
One of the servers must be a web server that must have access to the Internet. Others install A enterprise server software.
Dear support team we have these questions
1)If we need 18 core for the above manshened VM on computer how many phisical processo core we need on phisical server and how many Server 2022 Standard license we need to buy?
  6. In addition to installing the above 8 core Windows Server 2022 standard licenses on a physical machine, how many virtual machines will suffice?
  7. We can install one 8-core license on phisical mahine also use it for 2 different 4-core virtula machines.
  8. What additional license do we need, how much do they cost?
  9. Do I need to purchase an additional user license (CAL)
    Best regards
    Arayik

Only count the host cores. Virtual machine resource allocations does not matter.

    Some general info

    • Each host needs to be licensed.
    • A minimum of 8 core licenses is required for each physical processor and a minimum of 16 core licenses is required for each server.
    • Core licenses are sold in packs of two.
    • Standard Edition provides rights for up to 2 Operating System Environments or Windows Servers containers with Hyper-V isolation when all physical cores in the server are licensed. For each additional 1 or 2 VMs, all the physical cores in the server must be licensed again.
    • DataCenter Edition provides rights for unlimited Operating System Environments or Windows Servers containers with Hyper-V isolation when all physical cores in the server are licensed.

A Windows Server CAL is a license that grants access Windows Server. CALs are used in conjunction with Microsoft Windows Server OS licenses to allow Users and/or Devices to access and utilize the services of that windows server

    • User CALs allow a single user access to Windows Server from an unlimited number of devices
    • Device CALs allow an unlimited number of users to access Windows Server from a single device
