In a Teams meeting, is it possible to turn the Gallery view OFF (in the same way that the Participant list can be displayed/hidden)?

Gallery view is great for a multi-party conversation. But when I'm viewing a presentation and the presenter is doing a screen share, I find little value in watching other attendees drink their coffee, scratch their nose, and generally engage in monkey-grooming behavior as if they were looking in a mirror and not a camera.

Not only is the "Focus" option not persistent from call to call -- if the presenter stops presenting and then resumes presenting later in the call, you have to turn on Focus again - otherwise you're back to the gallery view and watching your fellow attendees pick their noses.

How do we make this a feature request? At the least, Focus should be a persistent option setting. Even better, we should have the ability to block other attendees' cameras. The fact that Teams gives users the ability to broadcast their camera should not force me to be a captive audience.

I want to turn gallery view OFF permanently as people are always sharing and I don't want to keep going to the menu to select Focus. It looks like a checked menu item so how do I uncheck it?

Now in Focus mode, my picture still remains, so it does not change the shared screen size at all. Seems like a bug recently introduced. How do I remove my picture?

I also want to turn the gallery off completely. "Focus" just moves the Gallery to the side or top of the screen. I want it gone so the presenter's screen fills the entire window. Switching to full screen does not get rid of the Gallery sidebar.

Exactly. i see the checkbox too. i really really really don't want to see the gallery, and it does look like there's a check. no one is answering the question on how to turn it off.
