I can no longer edit a PowerPoint presentation real time while it is being presented in a Teams meeting

This was an important feature as I could move ahead of the person on my team presenting and update future slides to correct errors or incorporate real time feedback from the meeting into following slides. Then when the presenter got to the slides, the latest would be shown.

Now, with live view or sharing screen, the presentation file stays static unless the presenter stops sharing and reshares.

How do I get this functionality back?

    Hi 3Seven-ChrisCarlson,

Apologies for the late response, I've searched any update releases about your concern, all the updates are indicated in this link

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/what...

Unfortunately, there is non concerning in your case, a possible workaround would be in powerpoint live as you've mentioned, nonetheless, I would like to recommend raising this issue to Microsoft UserVoice, here is the link

All of us are experiencing the same issue. Are you confirming that the following functionality is the way that is should work?

    1. a meeting participant shares a powerpoint file located in sharepoint online or Teams using the share powerpoint window mode and using presentation view from the powerpoint application.
    2. other meeting participants from the same tenant can open the same shared powerpoint file in the app on their on computers.
    3. those participants can edit the file and the changes will appear on the shared Teams screen.

This is the way it worked for us a couple of months ago and the functionality went away when live presentation mode was introduced.

    Thank you,

    Chris

    Hi 3Seven-ChrisCarlson,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community,

I'm Regie S an Independent Advisor and Team user,

If the issue is only present on one user, clearing cache would be the initial fix, may I know if you had performed clearing cache, if not kindly follow the steps I will share.

To clear your Teams desktop app cache:

    1. Sign out on Teams > Quit Microsoft Teams by right clicking the icon and select Quit.
    2. On your keyboard, Hold Windows key and Press R
    3. Cut and paste %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams in the RUN then OK.
    4. Delete the contents of the entire folder.
    5. Restart Device > Restart Microsoft Teams > Sign In.

    Best Regards,

    Regie S.

Thank you for your response Igor.

For my most important use case, another meeting participant is sharing. I see this problem when they are sharing their entire desktop in presentation mode and/or when they are sharing the application "window" only.

Naturally if they are sharing but not in presentation mode, real time changes are visible.

We have not tested with the "powerpoint live" approach, but I'm assuming that since you load the file and it presents from a cached version the problem would persist.

    Hello, 3Seven-ChrisCarlson

I am Igor, an Independent Advisor and I will be glad to help you with this question.

Are you trying to share the power point file or share your entire screen?
