@Mention a person using their chosen name

Hello,

Is it possible to @mention a person using their chosen name? For example, a person's name on TEAMs might be Hernandez.Maricela (Mari). When I want to @mention this person I am unable to @mention this person by their chosen name--Mari. In large organizations where people might be known more commonly by their chosen name, not being able to tag them by their chosen name can be exclusive. You cannot search for them by chosen name either.

Is Microsoft working on a fix for this? This would be great for folks who do not use their legal name or whose chosen name is their preferred name.

    Hi

My name is Daniel. I am an Independent Advisor.

I'm afraid it's still not possible to do so as of today. However, I believe this is indeed an important feature to be considered by the developer team.

I invite you to submit a feature request or suggestions for improvements to the developer team: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/

I'd also like to let you know, in some cases, I've seen other users use Tag to mention others in MS Teams but it seems this approach is not ideal in your case:
