automatically save items shared in Teams

I want to automatically save items I have shared in teams. So if I share something like a video created on my phone, I want my work computer to save the item so it's not lost or I don't have to sift through 1000 photos on my phone to find it again.

Hmm. Not helpful. The problem is our company has an authoritarian retention policy and they deletes everything in Teams after 30 days, that includes OneDrive items in teams too I believe -- but without context it's just a mess. So between MS not helping with organization and my company sabotaging me, seems like I just have to suffer. Sharepoint is the worst tool ever "designed" so no need to dig in that haystack.

They claim it's because it's "too much data" to store but I just spent two hours looking for a 12MB video file so that's $100 they just spent by saving money on data storage.

Thanks for your feedback. Does the retention policy applies only for Teams?

I just want to know if there's a way to automatically save these items locally. Yes or no. If yes, I'll see if I can decipher that 15 step process above that may or may not save a local copy.

Hi Eric, my name is Jose, a Teams user like you. I'll be glad to help you today.

When you upload a file to a Teams channel, the content is saved into a SharePoint library. You can access this library all the time while you have access to the channel. Additional to this, every channel has a file tab where every shared file is saved. This tab also has a add shortcut to OneDrive button. This button will create a link between this library and your OneDrive account. When the link is in your OneDrive you can go to your OneDrive folder locate the shortcut then by right clicking on it, please select Always keep on this device. This process will create a local copy from the channel file library.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
