Enabling Teams Audio Conferencing

It seems that just a few days ago Microsoft changed how licensing for Audio Conferencing works in Microsoft 365/Teams. It used to be a separate license but according to this article, as of March 1st 2022 it is now part of any Teams-inclusive license - and indeed I am no longer able to assign/unassign that license from the admin portal, it just says "These licenses do not need to be individually assigned" and the empty checkbox is greyed out. Users that previously had this license assigned still have a blue checked box, but with the same message.

However, I can't find anywhere else to enable that feature now. In the Teams Admin center I can see that users who previously had that license assigned still show "On" for Audio Conferencing, but everyone else is "Off" and I'm not seeing a way to enable that from either the 365 or Teams admin pages.

Am I missing something obvious here? The article above makes it sounds like that feature should be available for everyone now, but I'm not seeing that reflected anywhere else. If there is more documentation on this I couldn't find it... any help would be appreciated.

e: I should mention that the users in question do have the same Teams-inclusive licenses as the other users - Microsoft 365 Business Basic/Premium

    Hi David Piwinski,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Forum

Based on your description, I understand that you were previously aware of how to manage Teams Audio Conferencing in your admin center, however due to recent changes, you are no longer allowed to do so.

I suggest checking more regarding Manage Audio Conferencing settings for users - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Docs, It seems there are some recent changes as the last Note in this article says: “We are frequently updating how you can manage features, so the steps here might be a little different from what you see.”.

In Re: Microsoft 365 Pricing and Audio Conferencing L... - Microsoft Partner Community, It is obvious that beginning on March 1, 2022, Microsoft will be introducing Microsoft Teams Audio Conferencing select dial-out, a new, $0 audio conferencing add-on SKU for eligible Office 365 and Microsoft 365 suites (Check from number 27).

So as your concern, the new Audio Conferencing select dial-out add-on SKU will not be automatically enabled for new customers, Customers who want to have audio conferencing will still be required to add the $0 Audio Conferencing select dial-out SKU.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,

    De Paul

    Hi De Paul,

Thanks for the reply. I did come across that first article but didn't see that second one on the Partner Community page - that helps clear up some of my confusion on how the licensing is working now. I'm going to check that out this morning.
