How do you switch between organizations in Teams?

Hi,

I am apart of two organizations in Teams. When I start in one organization, everything is available. However when I switch to the second organization, I have full access as well. When I switch back to the first organization I am unable to access any of the content in different channels (see below). I typically end up shutting down the desktop app and restarting it. But that doesn't always restore my access to the first organization. Is there any other way to avoid this problem?

    Hi Emily Crowe,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft community.

To switch among different organizations you have joined in, please click your profile picture and click on the org you want to switch to as pointed by the red arrow below. Usually, you don't need to restart the Teams app.

If the issue persists, try the Teams web app ( https://teams.microsoft.com/ ) instead via an inprivate browser window to check if any difference.

(The inPrivate browser window (for Microsoft - Edge browser) / Incognito browser window (for Google - Chrome browser) is a browser window which will not save the browsing data (like your history, temporary internet files, and cookies). See Browse InPrivate in Microsoft Edge.)

If the problem mitigates via the web app, you may give a try of clearing the Teams cache.

    For Windows:

    1. Fully exit the Microsoft Teams desktop client. You can right click Teams from the Icon Tray and select "Quit" or run Task Manager and fully kill the process.
    2. Go to File Explorer, and type in %appdata%\Microsoft\teams. Or go to System (C:) > Users > Select a user name > AppData > Roaming > Microsoft > Teams.

Please clear content in the following folders.

      %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\application cache\cache

      %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\blob_storage

      %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\Cache

      %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\databases

      %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\GPUcache

      %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\IndexedDB

      %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\Local Storage

      %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\tmp

    1. Once completed, restart Microsoft Teams.

    For Mac:

    1. Quit Microsoft Teams.
    2. Delete files in following folders.

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/Application Cache/Cache”

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/blob_storage”

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/Cache”

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/databases”

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/GPUCache”

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/IndexedDB”

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/Local Storage”

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/tmp”

    1. Once completed, restart Microsoft Teams.

Hope it helps! If any update, welcome to share with us.

    Thanks & Stay safe,

    Qian
