Teams chats that I already read on Desktop are appearing on my phone as unread. Any notification read on the desktop does not update the read status on the mobile app.

    Here is a good example

All messages have been read on my windows PC, see image 1, however, on my Pixel 6 with Andriod OS 12 and the latest June 2022 update. It is still showing in the notification drop-down menu that I have an unread message from teams. See image 2

At least I am not alone with this problem. What phone are you using?

I have tried the steps above and no improvement. I then tried to remove and reinstall the mobile app and no improvement after that.

I have the same issue on two different phones - Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S22. I thought the issue was something wrong with my S9, but I recently upgraded and the issue has persisted on the S22 with a fresh Android install and a fresh teams install.

I've also tried all the various troubleshooting steps like logging in/out, clearing app cache, clearing app data, uninstalling/reinstalling teams and removing my o365 account entirely from my phone and signing in again, but no luck.

When I sign out/back in the read status on messages will sync once, but will not continue to sync after that.

Hello! My name is Joe, and I am an Independent Advisor, as well as a longtime Microsoft user. I hope that I will be able to assist you.

I'm still doing some research on this issue, but it appears that it is not unusual. People who have reported similar behavior note that when they send a reply to the message from the mobile app, the issue is resolved. Apparently, doing so forces a sync across devices, where the read status doesn't seem to sync automatically.

I will continue to look into this. Please let me know if you find that replying to these unread Teams messages marks it as read on both devices.

    Warm Regards,

    Joe
