Sharing Powerpoint with embedded video doesn't play on ipad

I run a couple of online courses using Powerpoint with embedded vieos(mp4 files).

I have uploaded the Powerpoints into the Onedrive and when I share the Powerpoints in a meeting, everything orks fine except for those on ipad or iphone. For them, the video doesn't play. They just have a single still frame with a play icon in the centre of the page.

This is frustrating as it means I have to run the PowerPoint from my desktop and share from there. The videos play when doing it this way, however, it means I need to use a second device to be able to see the meeting whilst my main device screen is just powerPoint..

I know the ipads and iphones are up to date so it's not that.

I have also tried by embedding the url link for the video and then run it through teams but that doesn't work either?

Any clues?

    That's not near a workaround. That's a failure.

Playing a video from your desktop, then running a poll shuts everything down. Did you test this at all?

Playing anything from your desktop is steppy, drops frames, and the audio is horrible. Sharing anything from the desktop is not usable at the moment!

It's unprofessional looking, clumsy to move around, a stop share is required to switch sharing devices, too.

Why does playing a video embedded into Powerpoint work on laptops and desktops (mac and pc) but not on mobile devices? Browser has same architecture. Should be self contained. How come, as a host, I can't set everyone's views to match mine? I got people telling me they can't see one thing, another person telling me they see only one thing. Need a cohost function, a uniform view to match presenter or "copy my view" setting for host, real polling (not a high school app), real attendance that works and not empty, real registration that works, ability to join a meeting with a meeting number, sharing in multiple views to the participants, spotlight does nothing if you're sharing, how about unmuting somebody as a host?. Should I keep going?

This really should not have been released for Webinars. It would have been nice if you thoroughly tested it before you rushed it out. Now, we're the testers and it's not going well.

I'm afraid the workaround of playing the video from the PowerPoint app then sharing the screen might be the only way at the moment to make the embedded video viewable. I also did a test on my Android device and unfortunately, the same issue exists.

For this reason, I suggest submitting a request to the UserVoice forum for this functionality. Here's the link:

Thank you very much for your patience, Mark.

    Regards,

    Didi

    Hi Didi

    Thanks for your swift reply.

I did state that it is more than one IOS device that cannot play the videos and, also when I run PP outside of Teams, the video does play on those devices.

This tells me that the issue has to be between Teams and IOS? And really is something that needs resolving.

The present PP function is a great function in Teams and eliminates the need for a second device or monitor, however, if I either have to come out of presenting to share a video from my desk top, or simply share the PP from my desktop, it makes for a clunky and not very seamless or nice experience. :-(

    Thanks

    Mark

Hello, Mark. I hear your situation. You could try the suggestion of a user from the link below which is, "after you have embedded the video in your PowerPoint slide you right click on it in PowerPoint and select "start automatically" rather than "when clicked". " It would then play the video automatically for all participants.

    Thank you.

    Hi Mark,

My name is Didi, an Independent Advisor.

It may be a limitation on an iOS device. As a workaround, try playing the video outside of Teams then share your screen and see if it will work.

    Thank you.
