Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset microphone not working correctly in Teams calls

Hi,

I have tried testing with VOIP phone and voice recorder, and the mic on the headset works perfectly. But not on Teams calls. People say I sound robotic and sometimes break up.

Steps taken:

  • Hardware reset on the headset
  • Disconnected and re-connected the headset via Bluetooth
  • Connected headset via USB Link
  • Updated firmware via Microsoft Accessory Centre
  • Ran test calls on Teams
  • Cleared Teams cache
  • Uninstalled and re-installed Teams
  • Turned off Auto adjust mic sensitivity
  • High-fidelity music mode is off

900 MBPS download and 900 MBPS upload with a 4ms ping and 1 ms jitter

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

    Hi Jazzy,

I had the exact same problem that you had. This is what I did in order to solve it:

    1. On your Teams Setting Change the Audio output to something different (anything other than the Microsoft Wireless headphones) , keep the microphone on the wireless headphones
    2. Run the test call...you may not be able to hear anything (if you don't have any other speakers) , but try talking into the microphone after a few seconds anyway.
    3. Once the test call is completed you should now the green check mark on the microphone
    4. Change the speaker back to the Microsoft modern wireless headphones, run the test again and it should work normally.

I hope that works for you as well,

    John

    Hi,

I was referring to the solution which was stated in the post

See the exact statement below, i believe it will help.

"I believe i found why my souind became robotic. I was using the 'Camera settings' app from logitech. When i start this app during a video-call, my voice becomes robotic. Without starting this app I do not experience any issues. I was using the app because I'd like to zoom in on my camera.

Don't know if you we're doing the same. If so, it might answer your question."

Let me know if you need further assistance.

    Regards.

Apologies! I am not using that app so completely ignored that. I have a logitech app installed for my mouse but not for my camera, it's a plug n play camera.

    Hi Joshua,

Thank you for the message. I have tried the web app and it doesn't work there either.

I will give the below a shot:

    Please reinstall the Microphone driver:

    1. Go to Windows start menu button > type in Device Manager > Audio inputs and output.
    2. Right-click your Microphone from the device list then select Update Driver
    3. If it does not work > Uninstall, reinstall then restart the computer so it can take effect.

    Also, reinstall the Audio driver.

    1. Press Windows key + X > Device manager > Audio input and output (Expand), choose the options,
    2. Right-click Sound card > Update driver,
    3. If it does not work > Uninstall, reinstall then restart the computer.

    Thank you,

    Jazzy.
