Functionality within Private Channels

I would like to be able to use in channel app functionality such as Planner, Project, calendar within private channels. Is it possible to do this and I am just missing something or is the functionality not there?

We are trying to set up a Team of Teams type structure to improve our collaboration but are struggling with setting it up where everyone in the organization is not getting spammed and inundated with messages, meetings, etc.

Thank you Suganya. I do very much disagree with the comment "there is no point in having it in private channels". Without this capability, we have Meeting Chats with valuable channel related content and files that are not stored in the channel. Having all of the information for the "team" in one place is the objective and we cannot do this if we can't have the meetings in the channel as well.

Again, thanks for the help. Just want to make sure that MSFT knows there is a strong use case for allowing Calendar App to be utilized in Private Channels.

Thank you for the reply. Is there something in configuration that allows this? Example, I add a calendar in a private channel it disappears after about 3 seconds. Also, with planner, I get an error when following the above steps in a private channel but it works as you describe in a public channel.

Thank you so much for your reply!

Please note that having a Channel Calendar in private channel is not possible.

The reason for this is that you can’t schedule a meeting in a private channel and since the Channel Calendar app is designed to show these meetings, there is no point in having it in private channels.

In this case, you can Select Help button at the bottom lower-left of Teams and then choose Suggest a feature and tell the option that you want to add in future.

Hello there, this is Suganya. I'm happy to assist you.

Yes, it is possible to use in-channel app functionality such as Planner, Project, and Calendar within private channels. To do this, simply add the app to the private channel. For example, to add Planner to a private channel, follow these steps:

    1. Open the private channel.
    2. Click the "Apps" tab.
    3. Click the "Add apps" button.
    4. Search for "Planner".
    5. Click the "Add" button next to Planner.

Once the app is added, you can use it just like you would in a standard channel. For example, you can create tasks, plans, and view assignments.

I hope this helps you to resolve the issue. Please let me know if you need further assistance. Thank you!

    Regards

    Suganya
