Hi, So since last week (6/6/2023), whenever i get teams notification it would alert me with 1. my original windows message notification sound 2. teams built in ding sound.

I have set the notification settings to windows, and have been using it like this forever without any problem, but now my noti sound doubles with teams built in one.

Ive tried checking the control panel sound settings, teams setting but no luck.

How do i make it so that it only delivers my message with the windows built in? is this a fw issue? (no updates available) Is anyone else experiencing this??

current setting attached

I had the same issue. I found that there were two app entries for MS Teams in the Volume Mixer settings. Muting the one which played the Teams default notification sound resolved the problem for me. It's still a bandaid fix though and MS need to get this sorted.

I have this same issue and it started within the last few weeks, with no configuration changes on my part. Both the Teams built-in sound and the Windows notification sound plays even though the Notification style setting in Teams is set to "Windows".

Suspecting a stale configuration issue, I switched Notification style back to "Teams built-in", confirmed the proper behavior, then switched it back to "Windows" and the bad behavior described above still exists. This bug is present on all the machines I use.

Please could someone from MS look into this issue please.

    This isn't helpful.

I am experiencing the same issue right now, which affects my workflow.

My way of working with Teams is primarily with Focus Assist turned on - I knew about new message from red dot around Teams icon. When I wanted to receive also sounds and notifications, I was just turning Focus Assist off. Now I constantly receive these Teamsy blips about every message, despite the do-not-disturb mode.

It must be some update which broke this behavior - Teams now bypasses Windows do-not-disturb mode, which is unfortunate for a native Windows app.

My MS Teams are configured to use native Windows notification system. The computer was rebooted many times from that June 6th.

And it looks similar to CHK_1 case - with Focus Assist enabled, I only receive default Teams notification sound with every new message. With disabled Focus Assist - I receive Windows notifications *and* default Teams notification sound, so notifications are doubled.

I have the same issue since a couple of days ago. It worked well before, which was very useful because the default Teams notification sound was unpleasant and gave me ptsd and it cannot be changed in the Teams app. So that's why I've been using Windows notifications because then I can pick any sound I'd like. But since recently, I get both the windows sound I've selected and the annoying Teams notification sound.
