How To Prevent Enter Key From Sending Chat Message

I am often working in other windows but have a lot of teams messages that I need to address. This results in my sending meaningless messages accidentally when I hit ENTER thinking I am in a different window but I am really in teams. How do I by default prevent the ENTER button from sending a message?

This has got to be one of the most annoying things about Teams (& there are a few). When typing on anything it is instinctive to press enter to start a new line - so why make it do something else? Its counterintuitive. FFS - sort it out.

To say "simply" is ignorant to accommodating the user in full. Nobody should have to think like a programmer while working - we already have our primary function. We should get our money's worth and have format mode BE the default. The current default makes this software giant look like a dog chasing it's tail.

    Hello,

You can simply activate the "Format" mode by pressing the first button on the left under the message you are typing. The symbol is an A with a pen next to it

I hear you, and while your information may have been useful for some I think it was your presentation that was off. It might have been better to say "A workaround that may help would be changing to format mode using...".

The fact is I personally am well aware of format mode, but my issue is NOT just using enter for newline, it's AVOIDING sending message prematurely.

If a person can remember to change it to format mode EVERY SINGLE MESSAGE, then they would equally remember to click Shift + Enter. So while the workaround does help when you remember it, it doesn't simply fix the underlying issue the first time you don't.

To that end, saying simply do X makes it seem like a complete fix when it's not, and we don't want the issue to be disregarded for those struggling with this issue.

That said, I appreciate the input as it's helpful to those that did not know about that mode.
