Teams Meeting Options - Bypass Lobby

By default we have "Who can bypass the lobby" set to People I invite (Turn off Allow Forwarding in the meeting invite). The meeting invite gets sent out to staff and when some staff join the meeting they are placed in the lobby and have to be admitted.

Has anyone come across this before or know why this is happening?

It takes a couple of hours for policy changes in Admin Center to start working for Meeting Organizers.

Pls try again after some time you've changed the policy.

If still not working, pls contact support so engineers can investigate further because this is indeed a strange behavior we haven't encountered with other users.

They are logged into their Teams desktop client when they join and it still puts them on the Lobby.

Is your staff member of the same domain as the meeting organizer?

Sometimes, suppose your invitee is part of a different organization, and you haven't mutually established a federation (also called "External access" in Teams Admin Center). In that case, you can still be logged in but considered anonymous and end up in Lobby.

    Hello Nate.

This Lobby policy applies just to signed-in Teams users.

If anyone from your staff joins the meeting unauthenticated they will end up in Lobby.

    Hi Nate,

My name is Didi. I'm happy to help you today.

I have experienced setting the lobby options to 'People in my organization and guests' but the attendees still end up waiting in the lobby.

What I do is enter the meeting > More > Meeting options.

Then, I select other options for 'Who can bypass the lobby?' like, 'Everyone'. Afterward, I reselect the original setting (People in my organization and guests) I made then 'Save'.

Once done, I 'Leave' to exit the meeting and join again later.

It worked for me and might work for you too.

    Best regards,
