Sony WH-1000XM4 Headphones suddenly do not work with Teams calls/meetings

As of October 19th I believe, my Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones do allow ANY audio out the moment I start a teams call on the desktop client. For example, if I am watching a youtube video with sound and I answer a teams call or start a meeting, the audio from all sources becomes silenced. There is also obviously no sound from the teams meeting itself. This only seems to be a problem on the desktop client. All other sources seem fine, so if I change to my laptop speakers, I can hear the people no problem.

I have checked everywhere and made sure that the WH-1000XM4's were the audio output. I have long since disabled and removed the "headset/mic" part of the headphones from my PC. Again this is a brand new problem and I had been using these headphones as my audio output for 1.5 years with no issues until suddenly they stopped working last week.

Are they no longer supported by teams or something?

I have had the exact same issue with Teams since mid-October as well. Teams no longer works at all with my Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones. No one can hear me and I cannot hear them, regardless of whether I am on a Teams call or Teams meeting, using the desktop or web version of Teams. They work with Spotify, Zoom, YouTube, etc. I ONLY have this issue when using Teams. My husband and I work for different companies and have completely different laptops yet he has the same issue with Teams not working with my Sony headphones, nor with his JBL earbuds. So frustrating. Microsoft, please get it together and fix this issue.

Problem: No sound or microphone works in meetings and calls in the Teams Desktop app in Windows.

Me and my colleges have the same issue with the Sony Headset (WH-1000XM4). It looks like the problem started to happen after the new update of Teams after a lot of troubleshooting.

The headset works fine with Teams on mobile and everything else. Please patch this in the next update. I'm using this headset regulary at work!

It might entirely be coincidence, but a number of people are complaining about issues with the prior generation of Sony headphones as well: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/all/teams-calls-with-wh-1000xm3/6d6648af-2cda-463b-a4bc-2b11c768d326

Seems like the latest update made some pretty significant changes to the audio - our problems started around the October 19th release date as well (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/teams-app-versioning).

Hi Nazia thank you so much for replying.

    1. Actually no the browser seems to be fine for meetings but not calls for some reason.
    2. Operating system is Windows 10
    3. Audio drivers are up-to-date
    4. I reinstalled teams with help from my IT team and it did not solve the issue at all. Exact same problem upon reinstall+restart.

Hello, I have the same problem with my airpods 2. generation. I was using it properly on my Teams calls about 2 years with no issues, however it started to be muted when I start to any Teams call since last week. As like you, there is no problem on Spotify, youtube etc. untill I open the Teams call. After that they got silenced and even If I stop the call, headphones remain be silenced on music, etc. I had to plug-out bluetooth and plug-in again to hear the music again. Then If any Teams calls come, the same story happens and it’s really annoying. Also, the same problem is with my Beats Flex bluetooth headphones too. It looks like a software problem and hope it’ll be fixed asap.
