Setting out of office on Teams

When i schedule out of office team, is it a must to turn on automatic replies?

I just want to show my status as out of office on my teams when someone tries to reach me.

I have also noticed even it says "Your out of office status will also sync with your outlook calendar"

But it actually only syncs the out of office replies/message, it does not actually reflect on my outlook calendar that Im actually out of office. Everytime I have to make a new appointment to set Out of Office so that ppl know Im really out of office.

Even if i set out of office message on team, ppl will only find out by receiving the auto reply when trying to send me an email

Is that the norm?

    Hello! My name is Joe, and I am an Independent Advisor, as well as a longtime Microsoft user. I hope that I will be able to assist you today!

    This does work, so I am not sure why you are experiencing that problem.

    The steps I take to do this are:

    1. Open the status menu
    2. Click 'Set status message'
    3. Click 'Schedule out of office'
    4. Make sure 'Turn on automatic replies' is switched on
    5. Write my out of office message
    6. Select 'Send replies only during a time period' and set the dates/times
    7. Click 'Save'

    This adds the time frame to my calendar as unavailable and sends a reply to anyone who emails me or tries to invite me to a meeting during that time.

    Could you please provide any specific details about anything you may see different in the above steps?

    It does not work for me somehow

    after setting out of office (22 aug 22) and save it , it does not show up on teams calendar, nor the one on outlook

    thanks joe,

    in my case, after i set the out of of office message on teams, the auto reply will be synced on outlook too.

    However, the calendar (teams and outlook) does not show anything at all

    unless i created an appointment for out of office block, that will then be synced

    Therefore, my conclusion is out of office message is only to do with auto reply on outlook, it does nothing to the calendar itself

    Would that be right?
