Teams download turns into a Whatspp download

I cannot download Teams. When i click download the .exe file is clicked and the process starts but doesn't complete and turns into a WhatsApp download, whichever browser i use. This is very weird and not helpful as use Teams all the time for work but it stopped working so i deleted the app and reloaded and this is what happens.

    Dang. That means the Installer cache Is corrupt. I'll see If I can find proper Instructions for clearing It - I go In and Delaware but It might not be the preferred method.

    Yes, delete them - the application should have cleaned up the install files when the app was installed. You can select all and delete - if windows can't delete something it will tell you.

    I'm Diane, a Microsoft 365 Apps & Services MVP and I'll try to help you today.

    I have not seen that error in years- it is a corrupt installer error. There is a setup.exe for what's app and teams installer tries to use it.

    In downloads: do you have a setup.exe? Rename or delete it.

    You can try clearing everything from the temp folder too -Teams should extract the files in the temp folder, if they are not deleted when it finishes or fails, you can run the setup.exe from there.

    (C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Temp)

    Hi Dianne,

    There are lots of setup files in the temp folder, some with app names attached to them, some just setup.exe, should i delete all of them?

    Appreciate your help.

    You won't have it - that article is just an example of how the installer gets messed up and one solution to fix it - find the files in the temp folder and install from there.

    Did you delete all files named setup in downloads and in the temp folder?
