Conversations involving multiple participants, allowing collaboration and information sharing in Teams
Hi Kanimozhi Soundararajan,
Hopefully, the information below will help.
If you have deleted a chat or conversation in Microsoft Teams application two days ago, you may be wondering if there is any way to restore it. Depending on the situation, you may have different options to get it back.
One option is to use the **OneDrive** feature in Teams, which stores a copy of your chat files. To do this, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the **Files** tab in Teams, select **OneDrive**, and click **Open in OneDrive**.
- In **My files**, open the folder **Microsoft Teams Chat Files**.
- Navigate to **Recycle bin**, select the files to be restored, and click **Restore**.
Another option is to use the **eDiscovery** tool in the **Compliance center**, which allows administrators to search for and recover deleted messages. To do this, follow these steps:
- Sign in to the **Compliance center** with an administrator account.
- Go to **Search** and select **Content search**.
- Click **New search** and enter a name for the search.
- Under **Locations**, select **Teams chat** and choose the users whose chats you want to search.
- Under **Conditions**, specify the keywords, dates, or other filters for your search.
- Click **Save and run** and wait for the search results to appear.
- Click on the search name and select **Export results**.
- Choose the output options and click on **Export**.
- Download the exported file and open it with a compatible application.
Note that these options may not work if you don't have the required permissions or if the chats have been permanently deleted. In that case, you may not be able to recover them at all. For more information, please refer to the official documentation of Microsoft Teams.
