    Hi everybody,

I've had this same problem for a few months and finally fixed it today by logging in to microsoft.com and downloading Teams from there. I don't understand why, but it seems that the installation file that you get after you log in is different from the installation file that you can get before you log in. Hopefully this helps at least some people.

    Good luck!

    Same problem for me.

I have uninstalled both programs and when I unpack the Teams.exe file it opens a Whats App window and says.. "Updating Whats App"

So annoying especially since its now November and people have been complaining about this since July.

Come on Microsoft, fix this.. you are not a start up that can use the excuse you have limited resources.

    Cheers

I have the exact same issue.

Removed via Apps & Features, cleared out %APPDATA% of all relics, searched the registry and removed all entries for Teams and WhatsApp.

I downloaded a fresh MSI installer from the Microsoft website, installed, and again it installs WhatsApp.

Pretty sure this is a bug with the user's profile, mine in this case, as we do not see this anywhere else in our business of 1000+ users.

Hello! My name is Joe, and I am an Independent Advisor as well as a long-time Microsoft user. I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue, and I am hopeful that I will be able to help you find a satisfactory solution.

Are you absolutely positive that it is Teams that is opening Whatsapp desktop? Could it be set to start when you first log into your computer just as Teams is?

Try opening Windows Settings (Win-I), and navigate to Settings > Apps > Startup, where you will see a list of the various apps on your computer. Look for Whatsapp. If the switch to the right of it is toggled on, turn it off.

Hopefully this will resolve your issue.

Please let me know if this doesn't address your specific situation.

    Warm Regards,

    Joe
