Microsoft Teams File Tab Error 404

We have a user who works out of Teams Files and all was working well. We made a company wide switch to a new primary email address - since the change he no longer has access to the Files tab as he gets this 404 error every time. It's as if the files tab is corrupt. We have reinstalled, repaired, and switched back to his old email address but the issues still persists. He is able to see the files on the website without issue.

I had the same issue with the New Version of 404, put I have a much simpler solution. All this tech was causing my head to exploid.

Go to your settings, go to apps, installed apps, go down to the new version of Teams and hit repair. I immediatly had access to my OneDrive.

    Hi Todd,

The person who is effected by the 404 error would need to be the one to upload the file. Make sure the file being uploaded into the Teams chat is in a non-one drive location like Adam said. It has to be local on the the effected users desktop. You can create a .txt file in their C drive. Just make sure to delete the .txt file once you are done.

    Hop this help.

    Hi Kyle,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the inconveniences,

There are a few possible causes and solutions for this error. Here are some of them:

    • The error may occur if the name of the document library on your SharePoint site was changed from its default, "Shared Documents," to another name. To resolve this issue, you need to revert the name of the document library to "Shared Documents." You can do this by using PowerShell or SharePoint Designer. For more details, please see https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/MicrosoftTeams/troubleshoot/files/access-files-tab-errors.
    • The error may also occur if the ownership information for the Microsoft 365 group that's associated with the team is missing from Teams. This can happen if an assigned owner leaves the company, and the group becomes orphaned. To resolve this issue, you need to assign an owner to the Microsoft 365 group that's associated with the team. You can do this by using the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
    • The error could also be a temporary issue that may resolve itself after some time. If the issue persists for a longer period of time, you can try to run a self-diagnostics tool within your tenant to verify possible issues with accessing files in Teams. You can do this by using the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
    • Another possible solution is to clear the cache of your Teams app by deleting the contents of the %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams folder and restarting Teams.
    • You can also try to reset the Internet Explorer or Edge browser settings, as this may be related to proxy settings or advanced security settings.

    I hope this helps!

    Regards, Sola
