Full screen apps silences New Teams notifications

Edit: Added Issue 2.

Hi!

I have some issues with the new Teams client and notifications settings (sound and banner).

Anyone got some ideas? Open for any suggestions.

Issue / Background / Symtoms

Issue 1: While an app uses full screen, New Teams client notifications is silenced even though settings says it should not be silenced.

Issue 2: When I receive a call, no notification banner is shown - incoming audio call is played but cannot answer it.

Example, issue 1: I use 4 screen. I RDP to my Laptop from my Desktop. While in the RDP session is active, which uses 3 full screens, the Teams client on the desktop is silenced. I don't get any notifications while in an RDP session. Same thing applies if I start a Windowed Full screen game or any other software which is in full screen mode. If I minimize or resize to window mode on the RDP session, the notifications comes thru OK. So it has to be something with the full screen mode.

Old client works fine.

Questions

  1. Any ideas on what causes this? What am I missing?
  2. Is there a way to not use Windows 11 build-in notification and keep the old Teams popup on the New Teams client?

Tried

  1. Reinstalled Teams
  2. Removed Teams cache in " %AppData%/Microsoft/Teams "
  3. Experimented with settings (Look below for current settings)

    Update! Issue 2 Solved!

" Issue 2: When I receive a call, no notification banner is shown - incoming audio call is played but cannot answer it."

I noticed that notifications banners and results was a bit inconsistent. Meaning that sometimes notification audio would play. Sometimes not. Regardless of full screen apps currently running.

Updated this setting and now play notification runs and banner too, while in full screen mode app.

Windows Settings (including notifications settings previously posted)

    • Settings->Apps->Installed apps-> Microsoft Teams (work preview)
      • Background apps permissions - Always (From value: Power optimized)

    Hi there!

I'll like to confirm if this is only happing on teams or it the same with other desktop apps, also may I know how you access MS teams.
Was it via app or web browser?

Using the desktop App only. On both ends. (Sender and receiver - different PCs of course).

Have you tried using another device, do you experience same?

Yes, but i don't get the same results. I get the expected result there.

Some more examples on when the notification is and isn't show, when the setting says it should.

If I use Snipping Tools (which was the only app that I could think of that I can force a notification on whenever I wanted to) it works fine too.

Example 1: Use a full screen application, Alt+Tab out, use Snipping Tool - the notification message is shown.

Example 2: Use a full screen application, Alt+Tab out, receive a Teams message (Teams/chat window is not focused of course) - the notification message is not shown not the alert sound.

Any thoughts on what to do?

All I want is to make sure Teams altert is always shown, with the obvious exceptions to muted conversation and such.

Edit: The issue gets more complicated since my work 90% of the times is in RDP sessions and with this new client (or some setting i've manage to set) I don't get any alerts on new messages.
