HTML document with links within the same page are not working when viewed within Microsoft Teams

When we upload plain HTML files to a Microsoft Teams files, then later double-click on that file to view it, Teams opens the HTML file in a special Teams HTML viewer window, which is fine. The problem is that when we click on a "same-page-link" in that web page within the Teams HTML viewer, the web page goes blank (all white) and stays that way. We have to close the Teams HTML viewer and reopen it to see the page contents again. We need to be able to click on "same-page-links" in HTML files while they're displayed in the Teams HTML file viewer and have the page scroll to that position in the file, like it normally works in a web browser. Is this feature intentionally taken away by Teams for some reason, or is this a bug in Teams? How can we achieve this basic HTML page with links working within Teams?

    Hi Aldrin,

In this case, it is not even a link to any external website or other documents but just a link to another section in the same HTML document (it's like have a Table of Contents with links to sections below in the same HTML page) to I am a bit disappointed to know that Teams HTML viewer cannot interpret this correctly.

    Thanks,

    Regards

    Guru

    Hi Joshua,

I am not sure if you got the problem, were you able to look at the solution offered in that other post?

All I am doing is opening the html document from the Teams file browser.

The same HTML document with links to the sections in the same document has no issues when opened on any browser outside of Teams.

It is just that when it opens inside Teams, it uses some type of HTML viewer that is not able to get the links correctly.

This issue has been reported by so many users but unfortunately I don't see a solution from Microsoft.

    Regards

    Guru

Hi, I am Aldrin, Independent Advisor here to work with you on this issue.

I understand your issue. Unfortunately, this isn't MS teams feature just yet.

When you clicked the HTML file, MS teams assumed it was only an HTML document locally so it opens an HTML viewer. If you open another link within that HTML, since this is just a local viewer, it doesn't connect to the internet.

Again, apologies for the frustration but let's wait for future updates.

    Hi,

It is the same issue with Teams on the web as well.

It is a simple HTML page with links to sections within the same page.

When the document is opened within Teams it opens inside a viewer and when clicking on any links it opens a blank page. When I copy the link I see something like "https://www.odwebp.svc.ms/embed" which was not added by me.

This issue was already reported but I couldn't view the thread as it was done privately,

Here is the previous post: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/all/same-page-links-in-html-files-are-broken-when/dabf8614-644d-41c8-ab5a-58e87884d32b I have run into exactly same issue that was described in that post.

    Thanks,
