I am reaching out for assistance with an ongoing issue where Microsoft Teams consistently crashes on my MacBook Air during calls. Below are the details of my setup and the issue:

  • Device: MacBook Air (Model: MacBookAir10,1)
  • OS: macOS 14.2.1
  • Teams Version: 24033.812.2721.9190
  • Issue Description: Every time I join a call on Teams, the application crashes without any warning. This issue has been persistent and affects my ability to participate in meetings.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

  1. Ensured macOS and Teams are both updated to their latest versions.
  2. Restarted the Teams app and my MacBook Air- - no luck
  3. Cleared the Teams cache by removing the contents of ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams & "rm -rf ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.teams" & rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.teams2 still no luck
  4. Reinstalled Teams with the latest version from Microsoft. - no luck
  5. Checked for conflicting applications and found none that should affect Teams - found none conflicting
  6. Removed external logitech web camera to check if problem occurs with the internal built-in camera - no luck
  7. Followed this article still no luck

Additional Details:

  • The crash report indicates a bug type 309.
  • The issue occurs specifically during calls, either video or audio, while presenting or switch between desktop screens.
  • I have not installed any new software or hardware that coincides with when the issue started.

I'm reaching out for any advice, workarounds, or solutions to prevent Teams from crashing during calls. Any help or insights from the community or Microsoft support team would be greatly appreciated. Is there a known issue with this version of Teams on macOS 14.2.1, especially with the MacBookAir10,1 model?

I would like to highlight that this issue significantly impacts my daily work, to the point where I am almost unable to effectively use Teams for my job functions. The frequent crashes disrupt meetings, hinder collaboration, and overall, greatly affect my productivity and ability to work remotely.

Any immediate assistance, workarounds, or advice on how to address this issue would be highly appreciated. I am looking for any possible solution that could help mitigate this problem and restore the full functionality of Teams on my device.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

    I am seeing several crashes a day since March 14 when in a Teams meeting or when closing a teams meeting.

    I have:

    • updated Teams
    • updated all Office products
    • updated Mac (currently 14.4.1)
    • rebooted several times
    • deleted Teams (old and new)
    • installed new Teams
    • cleared cache for both old and new

    The crashing thread always has this:

    0   libsystem_kernel.dylib                      0x1860fe0dc __pthread_kill + 8

    1   libsystem_pthread.dylib                   0x186135cc0 pthread_kill + 288

    2   libsystem_c.dylib                                0x186041a40 abort + 180

    3   libskypert.dylib                       0x1056ec470 void spl::priv::abort<0u>() + 12

    4   libskypert.dylib                       0x1056ec0b4 spl::priv::abort() + 180

    5   libskypert.dylib                       0x1056ec2f8 spl::abort() + 12

    7   libskypert.dylib                       0x10581c164 rtnet::internal::DatagramSocketImpl::maybeSendNextPacket() + 1152

    8   libskypert.dylib                       0x10581bcb4 rtnet::internal::DatagramSocketImpl::retainedMaybeSendNextPacket() + 32

    9   libskypert.dylib                       0x1057b291c auf::priv::MRMWTransport::tryDispatch(auf::IDispatcher*) + 156

    .,,

    Currently I am using the browser version of Teams when on a customer call. This is seriously impacting my ability to do my job.

    Any help appreciated.

    its malware, I have the same codes on mine, except I see them accessing through bluetooth first, and then coreaudiod. apple won't help me, and its not just a teams issue, its because they have used your bluetooth to access your audio and sneak their malware in undetected, and yes my MacBook is up to date. apple can't help at all and no one there knows how to read code, which is astounding to me. they need to stop calling it the Genius Bar.

    1. If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon in the dock, and then select Quit or press Command (⌘)-Q.
    2. In the Finder, open the /Applications/Utilities folder, and then double-click Terminal.
    3. Enter the following command, and then press Return: rm -r ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Teams
