Ways of replying to a post in a channel?

I understand that in a Channel, users can reply at the end of each post but there is no shortcut or easy option to reply earlier message within the specific post to provide context. For example, if there is a post within a channel and it has 3 replies that are stacked one after the other, would it be possible to reply to the 2nd reply within the post? If yes, then how and is there any shortcut?

    Hello Hamza A,

I'm Segunfunmi, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thank you for posting your query in this forum.

The method to reply to a specific message in Microsoft Teams varies depending on your account type and whether you're using the desktop/web app or mobile app.

For personal accounts on the desktop or web app, hover over the message you want to reply to and click the 'three-dot' menu. Then click the 'Reply' option, and the message will appear in the textbox as being quoted. Type your reply and press Enter.

For organization accounts, there's no direct reply button, but you can manually reply to messages. Go to the message box and press the Shift + > key combination when the cursor is in the box. A grey-colored quote box will appear. Go to the message you want to reply to and copy it, including the sender's name and timestamp.

If you're using the mobile app, you can reply to messages in chat directly with a single swipe, regardless of your account type.

Please remember that these instructions are for replying to specific messages in the chat. For channels, you can reply to a particular message using the Microsoft Graph API, but it requires technical knowledge and may not be suitable for all users.

I hope this information is helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

    Kind Regards, Segunfunmi.

    Hello Hamza A,

I understand your question now. You’re asking if it’s possible to reply to a specific message within a thread in a channel, similar to how you can in a chat conversation. Unfortunately, From my research, Microsoft Teams does not support this feature in channel conversations. Replies to a post in a channel are added to the end of the thread and are not linked to specific previous replies. This differs from chat conversations, where you can reply to a particular message.

Please allow me to share this channel where all the feedback is posted. Others might have shared this, but if not, feel free to share it as a fresh idea. Please make sure to upvote the feedback you think would improve the app for a higher chance of being implemented in future updates.

If you have other questions, just let me know. Have a wonderful day!

    Kind regards, Segunfunmi.

Thanks, noted. Can you expand a bit on what Microsoft Graph API is used for?

    Hi Segunfunmi,

Thanks for the response. My query is more channel specific. I have inserted the screenshot below as example. Within a channel, Talal Khan initiated a post as below. The post had three replies, one from Talal Khan himself, one from Farrukh Naeem and one from Asim Shahzad. Now what i know is that if i reply to the post, it will be stacked after Asim Shahzad's reply. What i want to inquire about is if i specifically want to reply to Farrukh Naeem's message (encircled below), would it be possible? If yes, then how?
